FAQs
As one of their largest financial investments people usually have a ton of questions prior to coming to a conclusion , below are some of the most common ones…
Unless you’re a properly trained roofing professional, most roofing tasks shouldn’t be performed yourself. Also always remember that the majority of manufacturers of products used in the repair of the roof will not warranty those products unless a certified professional carries out the work. Something else to remember is that working on a roof may be very hazardous, so is it really worth risking your health in order to save money?
It would be great if we were able to give you a straight forward answer to that question! However there really is no single answer that fits all for every question like that. There are so many unique products readily available and each and every one has its own merits and disadvantages. To know which is the ideal roof for your home, you really should have a professional come and check out your roof and they can make recommendations based on what they have seen, your roof design, the climate you live in and, of course, your budget.
It actually depends on the type of roof and what surveys are mandated. Also, remember that we’re working outdoors in the elements, so if the weather is bad and we cannot work on a number of days then this will definitely add time to the task. A smaller home might take around a week or so, while more substantial industrial projects may be anything from a few weeks to a few months. Just ensure that your roofing company keeps you updated and you should be fine.
Considering that your roof is always subjected to the weather, this means your roof is will degrade gradually. The pace at which it breaks down will be dependent on a number of variables. Those include; the quality of the original materials that were used as well as the workmanship, the level of abuse it has to take from the elements, how well the roof is maintained and the type of roof. Most roofing companies will quote around 20 years for a well-built and well-kept roof, but that can never be guaranteed due to the above issues. Our advice is to consistently keep your roof well maintained and get regular checkups to be sure it lasts as long as possible.
You shouldn’t ever pressure-wash your roof, as you run the risk of removing any protective minerals that have been included to provide cover from the weather. On top of that, you really should try to stay away from chlorine-based bleach cleaners as they could also lower the life-span of your roof. When you communicate with your roof cleaning specialist, tell them to use an EPA-approved algaecide/fungicide to clean your roof. That will clear away the unappealing algae and yellowing without damaging the tile or shingles.

Some roofing leaks are hard to locate. Often the water reveals up at a ceiling spot remote from the leakage. If your ceiling has a plastic vapor barrier between the drywall and the attic insulation, press the insulation aside and search for circulation stains on the plastic. Frequently water runs to openings in the vapor barrier, such as at ceiling light fixtures.

Wetness that escapes into the cold attic from the spaces below frequently condenses on cold nails. In some cases you can spot this if you climb up into your attic on a cold night. The nails will look white since they’re frosted. When the attic warms up a bit throughout the day, the frost melts and leaks, then the nails frost up during the night once again and so on.

To repair a roofing or not, that is the question. Really, the question is based upon whether the cost deserves doing it now, or waiting a while. In which case, it is more like a gamble.
