FAQs
As one of their most significant investments people usually have a ton of questions prior to coming to a conclusion , listed here are a number of the most commonplace ones…
Unless you’re a certified roofing professional, the majority of roofing jobs should never be performed yourself. Additionally always remember that almost all manufacturers of products utilized in the repair of the roof will not warranty those products unless a licensed professional performs the job. The other thing to bear in mind is that working on a roof could be very risky, so is it really worth endangering your health for you to save money?
It would be really good if we could give you a simple answer to this question! However, there actually is no single answer that fits all for every question like that. There are many different products readily available and each and every one will have its own merits and faults. To figure out which is the ideal roof for your home, you ought to have an expert come and examine your roof and they can make suggestions based on what they have seen, your roof design, the climate you reside in and, of course, your budget.
It definitely depends on the kind of roof and what surveys are needed. Also, bear in mind that we’re working outdoors in the elements, so if the weather isn’t good and we just can’t work on certain days then this will certainly add time to the job. A small home may take around a week or so, while more substantial industrial projects may be anything from a few weeks to a number of months. Just see to it your roofing company keeps you updated and you should be fine.
Due to the fact that your roof is consistently subjected to the outside elements, this means your roof is will diminish over time. The speed at which it degrades will be dependent on a variety of factors. These include; the quality of the initial components used along with the craftsmanship, the amount of abuse it will have to take from the weather, how well the roof is maintained and the design of the roof. Most roofing contractors will estimate around 20 years for a well-built and well-maintained roof, but that can never be guaranteed because of the above variables. Our suggestion is to consistently keep your roof well maintained and get regular checkups to make sure it lasts as long as possible.
You should not ever pressure-wash your roof, as you run the risk of eliminating any protective materials that have been included to offer cover from the elements. Furthermore, you should try to stay away from chlorine-based bleach cleaning products as they can also cut down the life-span of your roof. When you speak with your roof cleaning specialist, tell them to use an EPA-approved algaecide/fungicide to wash your roof. That will remove the ugly algae and staining without ruining the tile or shingles.

Some roofing system leakages are difficult to locate. In some cases the water reveals up at a ceiling area remote from the leakage. If your ceiling has a plastic vapor barrier between the drywall and the attic insulation, push the insulation aside and look for circulation discolorations on the plastic. Frequently water runs to openings in the vapor barrier, such as at ceiling light.

Wetness that escapes into the cold attic from the spaces below often condenses on cold nails. In some cases you can spot this if you climb into your attic on a cold night. The nails will look white because they’re frosted. When the attic heats up a bit throughout the day, the frost melts and drips, then the nails frost up during the night once again and so on.
