FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
Being one of their largest expenditures people always have a many questions prior to makingany decisions , below are a number of the more common ones…
Unless you’re a certified contractor, most roofing tasks really should not be undertaken yourself. In addition bear in mind that a large number of manufacturers of products used in the roof repair won’t warranty those items unless a licensed professional carries out the job. Something else to bear in mind is that working on a roof may be very hazardous, so is it really worth risking your health for you to save money?
It would be great if we could give you a simple response to that question! However, there really is no one answer fits all for each question like that. There are many different products readily available and each will have its own advantages and disadvantages. To know which is the ideal roof for you, you should have a contractor come and check out your roof and they can make suggestions based on what they discover, the type of roof you have, the environment you live in and, of course, your budget.
It definitely depends upon the kind of roof you currently have and exactly what surveys are mandated. Also, keep in mind that we’re working outdoors in the elements, so if the weather isn’t good and we can’t work on particular days then this will certainly add time to the task. A smaller home may take around a week or so, while much larger industrial jobs might be anything from a few weeks to a number of months. Just see to it your roofing contractor keeps you updated and you really should be fine.
Since your roof is continually subjected to the weather, it means your roof is will break down with time. The rate at which it degrades will depend upon a range of variables. Those include; the grade of the initial components used as well as the craftsmanship, the level of abuse it will have to take from the weather, how well the roof is taken care of and the design of the roof. Most roofing companies will quote around 20 years for a well-built and properly maintained roof, but that can never be promised due to the above issues. Our advice is to consistently keep your roof well maintained and get regular roof inspections to make sure it lasts as long as possible.
You should never pressure-wash your roof, as you run the risk of taking off any protective minerals that have been added to give shielding from the weather. Additionally, you really should keep away from chlorine-based bleach cleaning products as they can easily also diminish the life-span of your roof. When you converse with your roof cleaning professional, tell them to use an EPA-approved algaecide/fungicide to wash your roof. That will remove the unattractive algae and discoloration without destroying the tile or shingles.

More About Centreville, VA
Centreville is a census-designated place (CDP) in Fairfax County, Virginia, United States and a suburb of Washington, D.C. The population was 71,135 at the 2010 census.[3] Centreville is approximately 20 miles (32 km) west of Washington, D.C.
Beginning in the 1760s, the area was known as Newgate due to the popularity of the conveniently-located Newgate tavern. William Carr Lane operated the tavern and was co-proprietor of a nearby store with James Lane, Jr.[4] The Lanes sold convicted servants, which may explain why the tavern had the same name as a London prison.[5] The small stream that passed near the tavern was named the River Thames, another London association.[6] Another reason for it being named Newgate, was the fact that it was a “new gate” to the western territories.

The fantastic environment comes with a cost, however. It can be rough on roofings. Our business prides itself on keeping your commercial roofing and property roofing in prime condition. If you require a new roofing system, we will install it. If you require repairs, we will do a quality task. We constantly strive to improve our capability as residential and industrial roofers.

We offer trust, integrity, quality, and comfort. Many companies can give you a roof, however very few can provide you the secure feeling that we do. Dealing with a quality roofing company reduces your worry and permits you to concentrate on your work and your household.
Homeowner maintenance consists of cleaning the leaves and particles from the roofing’s valleys and rain gutters. Debris in the valleys can cause water to wick under the shingles and trigger damage to the interior of the roofing. Clogged gutter can trigger water to stream back under the shingles on the eaves and cause damage, regardless of the roofing material.
The best way to protect your roofing is to remain off it. Likewise, seasonal modifications in the weather condition are usually the most harmful forces. A dripping roofing can harm ceilings, walls and home furnishings. To safeguard buildings and their contents from water damage, roofing contractors repair and install roofings made from tar or asphalt and gravel; rubber or thermoplastic; metal; or shingles made of asphalt, slate, fiberglass, wood, tile, or other material.
There are two kinds of roofs: flat and pitched (sloped). Most industrial, commercial and apartment have flat or somewhat sloping roofing systems. A lot of homes have pitched roofing systems. Some roofing professionals work on both types; others specialize. A lot of flat roofings are covered with numerous layers of materials. Roofing professionals initially put a layer of insulation on the roof deck.
Next, they install partially overlapping layers of roof felt, a fabric saturated in bitumen, over the surface area. Roofers use a mop to spread hot bitumen over the surface and under the next layer. This seals the joints and makes the surface watertight. Roofing professionals repeat these steps to develop up the preferred number of layers, called plies. To use shingles, roofing professionals first lay, cut, and tack 3-foot strips of roof felt lengthwise over the entire roof. Then, beginning with the bottom edge, they staple or nail overlapping rows of shingles to the roofing. Workers measure and cut the felt and shingles to fit intersecting roofing system surfaces and to fit around vent pipelines and chimneys.
Finally, roofers cover exposed nailheads with roof cement or caulking to prevent water leakage. Roofing professionals who use tile, metal shingles or shakes follow a comparable procedure. Some roofing contractors also water-proof and damp-proof masonry and concrete walls and floorings. To prepare surfaces for waterproofing, they hammer and sculpt away rough areas, or eliminate them with a rubbing brick, prior to using a coat of liquid waterproofing substance.
When damp-proofing, they generally spray a bitumen-based coating on interior or outside surface areas. Asphalt is the most commonly utilized roofing material. Asphalt products include shingles, roll-roofing, built-up roofing, and modified bitumen membranes. Asphalt shingles are normally the most common and cost-effective option for property roof. They can be found in a variety of colors, shapes and textures.
Laminated shingles include more than one layer of tabs to offer extra density. Interlocking shingles are used to supply greater wind resistance. And big individual shingles normally come in rectangular and hexagonal shapes. Roll-roofing items are typically used in domestic applications, mainly for underlayments and flashings. They can be found in four different types of material: smooth-surfaced, saturated felt, specialty-eaves flashings, and mineral-surfaced.
Smooth-surfaced items are used primarily as flashing to seal the roofing system at intersections and protrusions, and for providing additional deck defense at the roof’s eaves and valleys. Saturated felt is utilized as an underlayment in between the roof deck and the roofing product. Specialty-eaves flashings are usually utilized in climates where ice dams and water backups are typical.
BUR is utilized on flat and low-sloped roofs and consists of several layers of bitumen and ply sheets. Elements of a BUR system consist of the roof deck, a vapor retarder, insulation, membrane, and emerging product. A modified bitumen-membrane assembly consists of continuous plies of saturated felts, layered felts, materials or mats between which alternate layers of bitumen are used, either surfaced or unsurfaced.
