FAQs
As one of their biggest financial investments people typically have a many questions before coming to a conclusion , listed here are a number of the most common ones…
Unless you’re a certified roofing professional, the majority of roofing work should not be performed yourself. In addition always remember that the majority of manufacturers of products utilized in the repair of the roof won’t warranty those items unless a licensed roofing contractor carries out the job. The other thing to keep in mind is that working on a roof could be very hazardous, so is it really worth risking your health so you can save money?
It would be great if we could give you a simple answer to this question! But there actually is no single answer that fits all for every question like that. There are a lot of different products readily available and each one has its own merits and faults. To know which is the ideal roof for you, you should have a contractor come and take a look at your roof and they can make suggestions according to what they find, your roof design, the climate you live in and, of course, your budget.
It definitely depends on the type of roof you have and what surveys are needed. Also, keep in mind that we will be working outdoors in the elements, so if the weather is bad and we can’t work on certain days then this will certainly add time to the task. A smaller home might take around a week or so, while much larger industrial jobs can be anything from a few weeks to a few months. Just ensure your roofing contractor keeps you updated and you really should be fine.
Considering that your roof is constantly subjected to the weather, this means your roof is will break down gradually. The speed at which it deteriorates will depend on a variety of variables. Those include; the quality of the original materials that were used along with the craftsmanship, the level of abuse it will have to take from the elements, how well the roof is preserved and the type of roof. Most roofing companies will quote around 20 years for a well-built and well-maintained roof, but obviously that can never be guaranteed due to the above factors. Our suggestion is to consistently keep your roof well maintained and get regular inspections to be sure it lasts as long as possible.
You should never pressure wash your roof, as you take the risk of taking off any protective minerals that have been included to give protection from the elements. On top of that, you should stay clear of chlorine-based bleach cleaning products since they can easily also decrease the life of your roof. When you speak to your roof cleaning specialist, ask them to use an EPA-approved algaecide/fungicide to wash your roof. This will eliminate the unappealing algae and discoloration without destroying the tile or shingles.
