FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
As one of their biggest investments people usually have a many questions before makingany decisions , below are a number of the more common ones…
Unless you’re a certified contractor, the majority of roofing work shouldn’t be undertaken yourself. In addition remember that the majority of manufacturers of products used in the roof repair will not warranty those products unless a certified professional performs the task. The other thing to bear in mind is that working on a roof is going to be very hazardous, so is it really worth risking your health for you to save money?
It would be great if we could give you a simple response to this question! But there actually is no one answer fits all for every question like that. There are a lot of different products available and each one will have its own benefits and disadvantages. To determine which is the best roof for you, you ought to have a contractor come and check out your roof and they can make suggestions based on what they observe, your roof design, the environment you reside in and, of course, your budget.
It definitely depends on the kind of roof and what inspections are required. Also, bear in mind that we’re working outdoors in the elements, so if the weather isn’t good and we just can’t work on particular days then this will add time to the task. A small home might take about a week or so, whereas more substantial industrial projects could be anything from several weeks to a number of months. Just ensure your roofing company keeps you updated and you really should be fine.
Given that your roof is continually exposed to the outside elements, this means your roof is going to deteriorate over time. The pace at which it breaks down will depend on a number of factors. These include; the grade of the original components used and the craftsmanship, the amount of abuse it has to take from the elements, how well the roof is preserved and the design of the roof. Most roofing companies will estimate around 20 years for a well-built and well-maintained roof, but obviously that can never be guaranteed due to the above issues. Our suggestion is to consistently keep your roof well maintained and get regular inspections to be sure it lasts as long as possible.
You should never pressure-wash your roof, as you run the risk of taking off any covering minerals that have been added to give shielding from the elements. In addition, you should try to stay away from chlorine-based bleach cleaning products as they may also lower the life of your roof. When you speak to your roof cleaning expert, tell them to use an EPA-approved algaecide/fungicide to wash your roof. This will remove the unpleasant algae and yellowing without destroying the tile or shingles.

More About Cape Charles, VA
Cape Charles is a town / municipal corporation in Northampton County, Virginia, United States. The population was 1,009 as of the 2010 U.S.Decennial Census.
Cape Charles, located close to the mouth of the Chesapeake Bay, on Virginia’s Eastern Shore, was founded in 1884 as a planned community by railroad and ferry interests. In 1883, William Lawrence Scott became president of the New York, Philadelphia and Norfolk Railroad Company (NYP&N), and purchased three plantations comprising approximately 2,509 acres from the heirs of former Virginia Governor Littleton Waller Tazewell. Of this land, 40 acres were ceded to the NYP&N, and 136 acres went to create the Town of Cape Charles (technically known as the “Municipal Corporation of Cape Charles”). Some of this land, named Cape Charles for the geographical cape found on the Point and headland to the south, Scott sold to the Railroad Company to serve as the southern terminus of the line on the Delmarva Peninsula from the Northeast states. In that same year, construction of the railroad began. In Cape Charles, the Railroad Company built a harbor port to handle steamships and freighters from Cape Charles to Norfolk.

We provide trust, integrity, quality, and assurance. Numerous companies can offer you a roofing, but few can provide you the protected feeling that we do. Dealing with a quality roof business lowers your concern and enables you to concentrate on your work and your household.
House owner upkeep consists of cleaning the leaves and debris from the roofing system’s valleys and seamless gutters. Particles in the valleys can trigger water to wick under the shingles and cause damage to the interior of the roofing. Clogged rain gutters can trigger water to recede under the shingles on the eaves and trigger damage, no matter the roof material.
The finest method to protect your roofing is to stay off it. Also, seasonal modifications in the weather are generally the most damaging forces. A dripping roof can harm ceilings, walls and furnishings. To safeguard buildings and their contents from water damage, roofers repair work and install roofing systems made of tar or asphalt and gravel; rubber or thermoplastic; metal; or shingles made of asphalt, slate, fiberglass, wood, tile, or other product.
There are two kinds of roofing systems: flat and pitched (sloped). Many business, commercial and apartment buildings have flat or slightly sloping roofings. Most houses have pitched roofing systems. Some roofing professionals work on both types; others specialize. Many flat roofings are covered with several layers of products. Roofing contractors first put a layer of insulation on the roofing system deck.
Next, they set up partly overlapping layers of roofing felt, a fabric saturated in bitumen, over the surface area. Roofers utilize a mop to spread out hot bitumen over the surface and under the next layer. This seals the seams and makes the surface area watertight. Roofing professionals repeat these actions to build up the preferred variety of layers, called plies. To apply shingles, roofing professionals initially lay, cut, and tack 3-foot strips of roof felt lengthwise over the entire roof. Then, beginning from the bottom edge, they staple or nail overlapping rows of shingles to the roof. Workers procedure and cut the felt and shingles to fit converging roofing system surface areas and to fit around vent pipelines and chimneys.
Finally, roofers cover exposed nailheads with roof cement or caulking to avoid water leak. Roofing professionals who utilize tile, metal shingles or shakes follow a comparable procedure. Some roofing contractors likewise water-proof and damp-proof masonry and concrete walls and floors. To prepare surface areas for waterproofing, they hammer and sculpt away rough areas, or remove them with a rubbing brick, before applying a coat of liquid waterproofing compound.
When damp-proofing, they normally spray a bitumen-based coating on interior or exterior surface areas. Asphalt is the most frequently used roofing material. Asphalt items consist of shingles, roll-roofing, built-up roof, and modified bitumen membranes. Asphalt shingles are generally the most common and cost-effective option for residential roofing. They are available in a variety of colors, shapes and textures.
Laminated shingles include more than one layer of tabs to provide additional thickness. Interlocking shingles are utilized to provide higher wind resistance. And big specific shingles generally can be found in rectangular and hexagonal shapes. Roll-roofing products are normally used in domestic applications, mostly for underlayments and flashings. They can be found in 4 various types of material: smooth-surfaced, saturated felt, specialty-eaves flashings, and mineral-surfaced.
Smooth-surfaced products are used mostly as flashing to seal the roofing system at intersections and protrusions, and for supplying extra deck defense at the roofing system’s eaves and valleys. Saturated felt is used as an underlayment between the roofing system deck and the roofing material. Specialty-eaves flashings are usually utilized in climates where ice dams and water backups prevail.
BUR is utilized on flat and low-sloped roofings and includes numerous layers of bitumen and ply sheets. Parts of a BUR system consist of the roofing deck, a vapor retarder, insulation, membrane, and surfacing product. A modified bitumen-membrane assembly includes constant plies of saturated felts, layered felts, fabrics or mats between which alternate layers of bitumen are applied, either appeared or unsurfaced.
