FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

As one of their most significant investments people typically have a many questions prior to makingany decisions , below are a few of the more commonplace ones…

Unless you’re a trained contractor, the majority of roofing jobs should never be performed yourself. In addition always remember that a lot of manufacturers of products utilized in the repair of the roof will not warranty those items unless a certified professional performs the task. The other thing to keep in mind is that working on a roof could be very dangerous, so is it really worth risking your health so you can save money?

It would be fantastic if we were able to give you a simple response to that question! But there really is no single answer fits all for every question like that. There are a lot of unique products readily available and each and every one has its own advantages and disadvantages. To figure out which is the best roof for you, you really should have a contractor come and check out your roof and they can make recommendations based on what they find, your roof design, the environment you live in and, of course, your budget.

It definitely is dependent on the kind of roof you have and exactly what surveys are required. Also, keep in mind that we’re working outside in the elements, so if the weather isn’t good and we just can’t work on a number of days then this will add time to the task. A small home may take about a week or so, while much larger commercial jobs may be anything from a few weeks to a number of months. Just be sure your roofing contractor keeps you updated and you really should be fine.

Since your roof is constantly exposed to the outside elements, it means your roof is going to deteriorate with time. The rate at which it deteriorates will be dependent on a range of variables. Those include; the grade of the original components that were used as well as the workmanship, the amount of abuse it will have to take from the elements, how well the roof is taken care of and the type of roof. Most roofing contractors will quote around 20 years for a well-built and well-kept roof, but that can never be guaranteed due to the above issues. Our advice is to always keep your roof well maintained and get regular checkups to be sure it lasts as long as possible.

You should never pressure wash your roof, as you take the risk of eliminating any covering materials that have been included to provide protection from the elements. Also, you should keep away from chlorine-based bleach cleaners as they can also cut down the life of your roof. When you converse with your roof cleaning professional, tell them to use an EPA-approved algaecide/fungicide to wash your roof. That will remove the ugly algae and discoloration without ruining the tile or shingles.
