FAQs
As one of their largest financial investments people typically have a bunch of questions prior to coming to a conclusion , below are a number of the most common ones…
Unless you’re a certified contractor, the majority of roofing work should not be carried out yourself. Also bear in mind that almost all manufacturers of products used in the roof repair won’t warranty those items unless a certified professional performs the job. Something else to bear in mind is that working on a roof can be very dangerous, so is it really worth endangering your health in order to save money?
It would be fantastic if we were able to give you a simple response to this question! But there really is no single answer that fits all for each question like that. There are so many different products available and each and every one has its own benefits and disadvantages. To figure out which is the ideal roof for your home, you ought to have a professional come and examine your roof and they can make suggestions based on what they observe, the type of roof you have, the environment you reside in and, of course, your budget.
It really depends upon the kind of roof and exactly what surveys are mandated. Also, bear in mind that we’re working outside in the elements, so if the weather is bad and we cannot work on particular days then this is going to add time to the job. A small home might take about a week or so, while more substantial commercial jobs could be anything from a few weeks to a number of months. Just be sure your roofing company keeps you updated and you should be fine.
Because your roof is continuously subjected to the weather, this means your roof is going to diminish gradually. The rate at which it deteriorates will depend upon a variety of variables. These include; the grade of the original materials used and the craftsmanship, the level of abuse it has to take from the elements, how well the roof is preserved and the type of roof. Most roofing contractors will estimate around 20 years for a well-built and well-kept roof, but obviously that can never be guaranteed due to the above factors. Our advice is to always keep your roof well maintained and get regular inspections to be sure it lasts as long as possible.
You should never pressure-wash your roof, as you run the risk of washing away any covering materials that have been added to offer protection from the weather. In addition, you should try to stay away from chlorine-based bleach cleaners as they could also diminish the lifespan of your roof. When you communicate with your roof cleaning expert, ask them to use an EPA-approved algaecide/fungicide to clean your roof. This will remove the ugly algae and discoloration without ruining the tile or shingles.

More About Dunbar, WV
Dunbar is a city in Kanawha County, West Virginia, along the Kanawha River. The population was 7,907 at the 2010 census.
Dunbar was incorporated on April 19, 1921, by an Act of the West Virginia Legislature. Dunbar is on land that was originally occupied by Native Americans with 11 mounds identified in the residential areas. The land was granted to George Washington for his military service and was named for Mary Dunbar after she inherited the land from Washington, although other sources say it was named for Dunbar Baines, a prominent area banker.[6] Dunbar was a farming community until industries began to evolve in the City with the opening of glass and bottling plants in 1912. The Gravely Plow was invented in Dunbar in 1916.[7] Located at Dunbar is the Dutch Hollow Wine Cellars, listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1970.[8]

We provide trust, stability, quality, and assurance. Lots of business can provide you a roofing system, but not many can give you the safe feeling that we do. Working with a quality roof company minimizes your worry and enables you to concentrate on your work and your family.
Homeowner maintenance consists of cleaning up the leaves and debris from the roofing system’s valleys and gutters. Particles in the valleys can trigger water to wick under the shingles and trigger damage to the interior of the roof. Stopped up rain seamless gutters can cause water to recede under the shingles on the eaves and cause damage, despite the roofing product.
The very best way to protect your roofing system is to stay off it. Also, seasonal changes in the weather are generally the most destructive forces. A leaky roof can damage ceilings, walls and home furnishings. To safeguard buildings and their contents from water damage, roofers repair and set up roofings made from tar or asphalt and gravel; rubber or thermoplastic; metal; or shingles made of asphalt, slate, fiberglass, wood, tile, or other material.
There are 2 types of roofings: flat and pitched (sloped). Most industrial, commercial and home buildings have flat or slightly sloping roofing systems. A lot of homes have actually pitched roofings. Some roofing professionals work on both types; others specialize. A lot of flat roofing systems are covered with a number of layers of materials. Roofing professionals first put a layer of insulation on the roofing system deck.
Next, they install partially overlapping layers of roof felt, a fabric filled in bitumen, over the surface area. Roofing contractors utilize a mop to spread hot bitumen over the surface and under the next layer. This seals the seams and makes the surface area watertight. Roofers repeat these steps to construct up the wanted number of layers, called plies. To apply shingles, roofing contractors first lay, cut, and tack 3-foot strips of roofing felt lengthwise over the entire roofing. Then, beginning from the bottom edge, they staple or nail overlapping rows of shingles to the roofing system. Employees procedure and cut the felt and shingles to fit intersecting roofing surfaces and to fit around vent pipes and chimneys.
Finally, roofing professionals cover exposed nailheads with roofing cement or caulking to avoid water leak. Roofing professionals who use tile, metal shingles or shakes follow a similar process. Some roofing professionals likewise water-proof and damp-proof masonry and concrete walls and floors. To prepare surface areas for waterproofing, they hammer and chisel away rough areas, or remove them with a rubbing brick, prior to using a coat of liquid waterproofing compound.
When damp-proofing, they generally spray a bitumen-based coating on interior or exterior surface areas. Asphalt is the most frequently used roofing product. Asphalt products include shingles, roll-roofing, built-up roof, and customized bitumen membranes. Asphalt shingles are typically the most typical and economical choice for residential roofing. They can be found in a range of colors, shapes and textures.
Laminated shingles consist of more than one layer of tabs to provide additional density. Interlocking shingles are used to provide greater wind resistance. And big private shingles typically come in rectangle-shaped and hexagonal shapes. Roll-roofing products are typically used in residential applications, primarily for underlayments and flashings. They come in four various kinds of product: smooth-surfaced, saturated felt, specialty-eaves flashings, and mineral-surfaced.
Smooth-surfaced items are utilized mostly as flashing to seal the roofing at intersections and protrusions, and for supplying extra deck security at the roofing’s eaves and valleys. Saturated felt is utilized as an underlayment between the roofing system deck and the roof product. Specialty-eaves flashings are generally used in climates where ice dams and water backups prevail.
BUR is used on flat and low-sloped roofings and includes numerous layers of bitumen and ply sheets. Elements of a BUR system include the roof deck, a vapor retarder, insulation, membrane, and emerging product. A customized bitumen-membrane assembly consists of continuous plies of saturated felts, covered felts, materials or mats in between which alternate layers of bitumen are applied, either appeared or unsurfaced.
