FAQs
As one of their largest expenditures people usually have a number of questions prior to coming to a conclusion , below are a number of the more commonplace ones…
Unless you are a qualified contractor, the majority of roofing work should never be undertaken yourself. Also remember that almost all manufacturers of products utilized in the roof repair will not warranty those products unless a licensed professional performs the work. Something else to bear in mind is that working on a roof may be very hazardous, so is it really worth jeopardizing your health in order to save money?
It would be fantastic if we were able to give you a straight forward response to that question! But there actually is no one answer fits all for each question like that. There are several unique products readily available and each one has its own benefits and faults. To determine which is the right roof for you, you ought to have an expert come and take a look at your roof and they can make recommendations based on what they see, the type of roof you have, the environment you live in and, of course, your budget.
It actually is dependent on the type of roof you have and what surveys are needed. Also, keep in mind that we’re working outside in the elements, so if the weather isn’t good and we can’t work on certain days then this will certainly add more time to the job. A small home might take about a week or so, while larger industrial projects might be anything from a few weeks to a number of months. Just make sure your roofing company keeps you updated and you should be fine.
Considering that your roof is always exposed to the outside elements, it means your roof is going to diminish gradually. The rate at which it deteriorates will depend on a number of factors. Those include; the grade of the original materials that were used as well as the craftsmanship, the level of abuse it has to take from the weather, how well the roof is preserved and the style of the roof. Most roofing contractors will estimate around 20 years for a well-built and properly maintained roof, but obviously that can never be promised due to the above issues. Our suggestion is to always keep your roof well maintained and get regular checkups to make sure it lasts as long as possible.
You should not ever pressure wash your roof, as you take the risk of getting rid of any covering minerals that have been added to give protection from the weather. On top of that, you really should steer clear of chlorine-based bleach cleaning products since they could also cut down the life-span of your roof. When you converse with your roof cleaning expert, tell them to use an EPA-approved algaecide/fungicide to wash your roof. This will remove the unpleasant algae and staining without damaging the tile or shingles.

More About Dunbar, WV
Dunbar is a city in Kanawha County, West Virginia, along the Kanawha River. The population was 7,907 at the 2010 census.
Dunbar was incorporated on April 19, 1921, by an Act of the West Virginia Legislature. Dunbar is on land that was originally occupied by Native Americans with 11 mounds identified in the residential areas. The land was granted to George Washington for his military service and was named for Mary Dunbar after she inherited the land from Washington, although other sources say it was named for Dunbar Baines, a prominent area banker.[6] Dunbar was a farming community until industries began to evolve in the City with the opening of glass and bottling plants in 1912. The Gravely Plow was invented in Dunbar in 1916.[7] Located at Dunbar is the Dutch Hollow Wine Cellars, listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1970.[8]

The wonderful climate features a cost, however. It can be rough on roofings. Our business prides itself on keeping your business roof and domestic roof in prime condition. If you require a brand-new roofing system, we will install it. If you require repairs, we will do a quality job. We continuously make every effort to improve our capability as residential and industrial roofing contractors.

We offer trust, integrity, quality, and assurance. Numerous companies can provide you a roofing system, but few can provide you the safe feeling that we do. Dealing with a quality roof company reduces your concern and allows you to concentrate on your work and your family.
Property owner maintenance consists of cleaning up the leaves and particles from the roofing system’s valleys and seamless gutters. Debris in the valleys can trigger water to wick under the shingles and cause damage to the interior of the roofing system. Blocked gutter can cause water to recede under the shingles on the eaves and cause damage, regardless of the roofing product.
The best method to protect your roof is to stay off it. Likewise, seasonal changes in the weather are normally the most devastating forces. A leaky roof can harm ceilings, walls and furnishings. To protect structures and their contents from water damage, roofers repair and set up roofings made of tar or asphalt and gravel; rubber or thermoplastic; metal; or shingles made of asphalt, slate, fiberglass, wood, tile, or other product.
There are two types of roofing systems: flat and pitched (sloped). Many business, commercial and apartment or condo structures have flat or somewhat sloping roofs. Most houses have pitched roofing systems. Some roofing contractors deal with both types; others specialize. The majority of flat roofings are covered with several layers of products. Roofing contractors initially put a layer of insulation on the roof deck.
Next, they set up partly overlapping layers of roofing felt, a fabric saturated in bitumen, over the surface. Roofers utilize a mop to spread hot bitumen over the surface area and under the next layer. This seals the joints and makes the surface area watertight. Roofing professionals duplicate these steps to develop up the preferred number of layers, called plies. To use shingles, roofers initially lay, cut, and tack 3-foot strips of roof felt lengthwise over the entire roof. Then, beginning with the bottom edge, they staple or nail overlapping rows of shingles to the roof. Employees step and cut the felt and shingles to fit converging roofing surface areas and to fit around vent pipelines and chimneys.
Finally, roofing contractors cover exposed nailheads with roof cement or caulking to avoid water leakage. Roofers who use tile, metal shingles or shakes follow a similar process. Some roofing contractors likewise water-proof and damp-proof masonry and concrete walls and floorings. To prepare surfaces for waterproofing, they hammer and chisel away rough spots, or remove them with a rubbing brick, prior to applying a coat of liquid waterproofing compound.
When damp-proofing, they typically spray a bitumen-based finish on interior or outside surfaces. Asphalt is the most typically used roofing product. Asphalt products include shingles, roll-roofing, built-up roofing, and customized bitumen membranes. Asphalt shingles are usually the most typical and cost-effective choice for domestic roof. They are available in a range of colors, shapes and textures.
Laminated shingles include more than one layer of tabs to supply extra density. Interlocking shingles are utilized to supply higher wind resistance. And large specific shingles generally can be found in rectangle-shaped and hexagonal shapes. Roll-roofing items are generally utilized in domestic applications, mostly for underlayments and flashings. They can be found in four different kinds of material: smooth-surfaced, saturated felt, specialty-eaves flashings, and mineral-surfaced.
Smooth-surfaced products are used mainly as flashing to seal the roofing system at crossways and protrusions, and for offering additional deck security at the roofing’s eaves and valleys. Saturated felt is utilized as an underlayment between the roof deck and the roof material. Specialty-eaves flashings are typically used in environments where ice dams and water backups are common.
BUR is used on flat and low-sloped roofing systems and includes multiple layers of bitumen and ply sheets. Parts of a BUR system consist of the roof deck, a vapor retarder, insulation, membrane, and appearing product. A modified bitumen-membrane assembly consists of continuous plies of saturated felts, layered felts, fabrics or mats between which alternate layers of bitumen are applied, either surfaced or unsurfaced.
