FAQs
Being one of their biggest financial investments people always have a many questions before coming to a conclusion , below are a few of the more commonplace ones…
Unless you are a trained roofing professional, most roofing jobs should never be undertaken yourself. Also remember that almost all manufacturers of products utilized in the repair of the roof won’t warranty those items unless a licensed roofing contractor carries out the task. Something else to bear in mind is that working on a roof could be very dangerous, so is it really worth risking your health so you can save money?
It would be really good if we could give you a simple answer to that question! However there actually is no one answer fits all for every question like that. There are several unique products available and each has its own merits and disadvantages. To figure out which is the best roof for you, you should have a professional come and take a look at your roof and they can make recommendations based on what they have seen, the type of roof you have, the climate you reside in and, of course, your budget.
It really depends on the type of roof and what inspections are mandated. Also, remember that we’re working outside in the elements, so if the weather isn’t good and we just can’t work on particular days then this will certainly add more time to the job. A small home might take about a week or so, while larger industrial jobs could be anything from a few weeks to a number of months. Just be sure your roofing contractor keeps you updated and you should be fine.
Given that your roof is continually exposed to the outside elements, it means your roof is will break down over time. The speed at which it deteriorates will be dependent on a number of factors. Those include; the grade of the original components that were used as well as the workmanship, the amount of abuse it will have to take from the weather, how well the roof is preserved and the design of the roof. Most roofing contractors will estimate around 20 years for a well-built and properly maintained roof, but obviously that can never be guaranteed as a result of the above factors. Our advice is to always keep your roof well maintained and get regular inspections to be sure it lasts as long as possible.
You should never pressure wash your roof, as you take the risk of taking off any covering materials that have been included to offer protection from the elements. Furthermore, you really should stay clear of chlorine-based bleach cleaning products as they can easily also reduce the lifespan of your roof. When you communicate with your roof cleaning specialist, tell them to use an EPA-approved algaecide/fungicide to wash your roof. That will clear away the unattractive algae and staining without destroying the tile or shingles.
