FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
Being one of their most significant investments people always have a number of questions before makingany decisions , listed here are a few of the more common ones…
Unless you’re a trained contractor, the majority of roofing work shouldn’t be undertaken yourself. Additionally remember that most manufacturers of products utilized in the repair of the roof will not warranty those products unless a certified professional performs the job. The other thing to always remember is that working on a roof could be very hazardous, so is it really worth endangering your health in order to save money?
It would be great if we were able to give you a simple response to this question! But there really is no one answer fits all for every question like that. There are plenty of unique products readily available and each will have its own merits and disadvantages. To know which is the best roof for you, you should have a professional come and check out your roof and they can make suggestions based on what they observe, your roof design, the climate you reside in and, of course, your budget.
It really depends on the type of roof and what surveys are mandated. Also, bear in mind that we’re working outside in the elements, so if the weather is bad and we cannot work on particular days then this is going to add more time to the task. A smaller home could take about a week or so, whereas larger commercial projects might be anything from several weeks to a number of months. Just ensure that your roofing company keeps you updated and you really should be fine.
Since your roof is constantly exposed to the outside elements, it means your roof is going to break down with time. The rate at which it degrades will be dependent on a number of factors. These include; the quality of the original materials used along with the craftsmanship, the level of abuse it has to take from the elements, how well the roof is maintained and the design of the roof. Most roofing companies will estimate around 20 years for a well-built and well-maintained roof, but obviously that can never be promised because of the above issues. Our advice is to always keep your roof well maintained and get regular roof inspections to be sure it lasts as long as possible.
You should never pressure-wash your roof, as you take the risk of eliminating any covering materials that have been added to provide shielding from the elements. Also, you really should stay clear of chlorine-based bleach cleaning products since they could also cut down the life of your roof. When you speak with your roof cleaning expert, ask them to use an EPA-approved algaecide/fungicide to wash your roof. This will clear away the unappealing algae and discoloration without ruining the tile or shingles.
