FAQs

As one of their largest investments people always have a number of questions prior to coming to a conclusion , listed here are a number of the more common ones…

Unless you are a properly trained contractor, most roofing tasks shouldn’t be performed yourself. In addition remember that a lot of manufacturers of products utilized in the repair of the roof will not warranty those items unless a certified roofing contractor carries out the job. Something else to always remember is that working on a roof can be very dangerous, so is it really worth jeopardizing your health in order to save money?

It would be great if we could give you a simple response to this question! However there really is no one answer fits all for every question like that. There are several unique products readily available and each has its own merits and disadvantages. To determine which is the right roof for you, you really should have an expert come and take a look at your roof and they can make suggestions according to what they see, your roof design, the climate you reside in and, of course, your budget.

It actually depends on the type of roof you currently have and exactly what inspections are mandated. Also, remember that we’re working outdoors in the elements, so if the weather is bad and we can’t work on particular days then this is going to add more time to the task. A smaller home may take around a week or so, whereas larger industrial projects may be anything from several weeks to a few months. Just ensure that your roofing contractor keeps you updated and you should be fine.

Since your roof is always subjected to the weather, it means your roof is will diminish over time. The speed at which it deteriorates will depend on a range of factors. These include; the grade of the initial materials that were used as well as the craftsmanship, the amount of abuse it will have to take from the weather, how well the roof is maintained and the style of the roof. Most roofing companies will quote around 20 years for a well-built and well-maintained roof, but that can never be guaranteed due to the above factors. Our advice is to consistently keep your roof well maintained and get regular inspections to make sure it lasts as long as possible.

You should not ever pressure-wash your roof, as you run the risk of removing any covering materials that have been added to give shielding from the weather. Furthermore, you really should try to stay away from chlorine-based bleach cleaning products since they can also decrease the life-span of your roof. When you speak to your roof cleaning specialist, ask them to use an EPA-approved algaecide/fungicide to clean your roof. That will get rid of the unattractive algae and staining without ruining the tile or shingles.
