FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
Being one of their biggest investments people typically have a number of questions before makingany decisions , listed here are a number of the more common ones…
Unless you are a properly trained contractor, most roofing jobs should not be undertaken yourself. Additionally always remember that the majority of manufacturers of products utilized in the repair of the roof will not warranty those products unless a certified professional performs the work. Something else to keep in mind is that working on a roof can be very risky, so is it really worth risking your health for you to save money?
It would be great if we were able to give you a simple response to that question! But there really is no one answer that fits all for each question like that. There are several unique products readily available and each one will have its own benefits and faults. To know which is the best roof for your home, you really should have a professional come and take a look at your roof and they can make suggestions according to what they discover, your roof design, the environment you reside in and, of course, your budget.
It definitely is dependent on the kind of roof you have and exactly what surveys are needed. Also, keep in mind that we’re working outside in the elements, so if the weather is bad and we just can’t work on certain days then this will certainly add more time to the job. A small home might take about a week or so, while larger industrial projects could be anything from a few weeks to a number of months. Just ensure that your roofing company keeps you updated and you really should be fine.
Considering that your roof is constantly exposed to the weather, it means your roof is going to break down over time. The speed at which it breaks down will depend on a number of variables. These include; the quality of the original components that were used along with the workmanship, the amount of abuse it has to take from the weather, how well the roof is maintained and the style of the roof. Most roofing companies will quote around 20 years for a well-built and well-kept roof, but obviously that can never be guaranteed because of the above issues. Our advice is to consistently keep your roof well maintained and get regular checkups to be sure it lasts as long as possible.
You should never pressure wash your roof, as you take the risk of washing away any protective minerals that have been included to give protection from the weather. In addition, you really should try to stay away from chlorine-based bleach cleaners since they could also reduce the life of your roof. When you talk to your roof cleaning expert, tell them to use an EPA-approved algaecide/fungicide to wash your roof. This will eliminate the unsightly algae and staining without damaging the tile or shingles.

More About Maywood, IL
Maywood is a village in Proviso Township, Cook County, Illinois, United States in the Chicago metropolitan area. It was founded on April 6, 1869,[3] and organized October 22, 1881.[4] The population was 24,090 at the 2010 United States Census.[5]
There was limited European-American settlement in the Maywood area before a railroad was built after the American Civil War, with the rise of Chicago. But at least one house in what became Maywood was used as a station on the Underground Railroad, to aid refugee African-American slaves in escaping to freedom in the North. Some settled in the free state of Illinois; others went on to Canada, seeking further distance from American slavery. The site of the former house has been nationally commemorated. The plaque is located at today’s Lake Street and the Des Plaines River bridge.[6]

The wonderful environment includes a price, however. It can be rough on roofing systems. Our company prides itself on keeping your commercial roofing and domestic roof in prime condition. If you need a brand-new roofing system, we will install it. If you require repair work, we will do a quality task. We constantly make every effort to enhance our ability as residential and commercial roofing contractors.

We provide trust, integrity, quality, and comfort. Numerous companies can provide you a roof, however few can offer you the protected feeling that we do. Dealing with a quality roof company decreases your concern and permits you to focus on your work and your family.
Homeowner upkeep includes cleaning up the leaves and particles from the roof’s valleys and rain gutters. Particles in the valleys can trigger water to wick under the shingles and trigger damage to the interior of the roofing. Blocked rain seamless gutters can cause water to flow back under the shingles on the eaves and cause damage, no matter the roof product.
The finest method to maintain your roof is to remain off it. Likewise, seasonal modifications in the weather are generally the most destructive forces. A leaky roofing can damage ceilings, walls and home furnishings. To secure buildings and their contents from water damage, roofing contractors repair work and set up roofing systems made from tar or asphalt and gravel; rubber or thermoplastic; metal; or shingles made from asphalt, slate, fiberglass, wood, tile, or other product.
There are 2 kinds of roofs: flat and pitched (sloped). A lot of commercial, commercial and apartment have flat or slightly sloping roofs. A lot of houses have pitched roofing systems. Some roofers deal with both types; others specialize. Most flat roofing systems are covered with several layers of materials. Roofing contractors initially put a layer of insulation on the roofing deck.
Next, they install partially overlapping layers of roof felt, a material saturated in bitumen, over the surface area. Roofing professionals use a mop to spread hot bitumen over the surface area and under the next layer. This seals the seams and makes the surface area watertight. Roofing professionals repeat these actions to develop the wanted number of layers, called plies. To apply shingles, roofing contractors initially lay, cut, and tack 3-foot strips of roofing felt lengthwise over the whole roofing system. Then, starting from the bottom edge, they staple or nail overlapping rows of shingles to the roofing. Employees step and cut the felt and shingles to fit converging roofing surface areas and to fit around vent pipes and chimneys.
Lastly, roofers cover exposed nailheads with roofing cement or caulking to prevent water leak. Roofing contractors who utilize tile, metal shingles or shakes follow a comparable process. Some roofing professionals likewise water-proof and damp-proof masonry and concrete walls and floorings. To prepare surfaces for waterproofing, they hammer and sculpt away rough spots, or remove them with a rubbing brick, before applying a coat of liquid waterproofing substance.
When damp-proofing, they generally spray a bitumen-based finishing on interior or exterior surfaces. Asphalt is the most commonly utilized roofing material. Asphalt items consist of shingles, roll-roofing, built-up roof, and modified bitumen membranes. Asphalt shingles are generally the most common and affordable option for property roofing. They come in a variety of colors, shapes and textures.
Laminated shingles consist of more than one layer of tabs to provide extra thickness. Interlocking shingles are utilized to offer higher wind resistance. And large private shingles typically come in rectangle-shaped and hexagonal shapes. Roll-roofing items are typically utilized in property applications, mostly for underlayments and flashings. They come in 4 various types of product: smooth-surfaced, saturated felt, specialty-eaves flashings, and mineral-surfaced.
Smooth-surfaced items are utilized mainly as flashing to seal the roof at intersections and protrusions, and for supplying extra deck protection at the roof’s eaves and valleys. Saturated felt is used as an underlayment between the roof deck and the roof material. Specialty-eaves flashings are generally utilized in climates where ice dams and water backups are typical.
BUR is used on flat and low-sloped roofs and consists of multiple layers of bitumen and ply sheets. Components of a BUR system consist of the roofing system deck, a vapor retarder, insulation, membrane, and surfacing product. A modified bitumen-membrane assembly consists of constant plies of saturated felts, layered felts, materials or mats between which alternate layers of bitumen are applied, either emerged or unsurfaced.
