FAQs

As one of their largest expenditures people typically have a bunch of questions prior to coming to a conclusion , below are a number of the more common ones…

Unless you’re a trained roofing professional, most roofing work really should not be performed yourself. Also always remember that almost all manufacturers of products used in the roof repair won’t warranty those items unless a certified roofing contractor performs the task. Something else to bear in mind is that working on a roof may be very hazardous, so is it really worth jeopardizing your health for you to save money?

It would be great if we could give you a straight forward answer to that question! However there actually is no single answer fits all for every question like that. There are many unique products available and each and every one will have its own advantages and faults. To know which is the right roof for you, you really should have a contractor come and take a look at your roof and they can make suggestions according to what they find, your roof design, the climate you live in and, of course, your budget.

It definitely is dependent on the type of roof you have and exactly what surveys are mandated. Also, keep in mind that we will be working outdoors in the elements, so if the weather is bad and we just can’t work on certain days then this will definitely add time to the job. A small home could take about a week or so, while much larger commercial jobs could be anything from a few weeks to a number of months. Just make certain your roofing company keeps you updated and you should be fine.

Because your roof is continuously subjected to the weather, it means your roof is going to diminish with time. The rate at which it degrades will depend on a number of variables. These include; the quality of the original components used as well as the craftsmanship, the amount of abuse it will have to take from the elements, how well the roof is preserved and the style of the roof. Most roofing contractors will estimate around 20 years for a well-built and properly maintained roof, but that can never be guaranteed because of the above variables. Our advice is to consistently keep your roof well maintained and get regular inspections to make sure it lasts as long as possible.

You should never pressure-wash your roof, as you run the risk of washing away any covering minerals that have been added to provide shielding from the elements. Also, you really should keep away from chlorine-based bleach cleaning products since they could also reduce the life of your roof. When you converse with your roof cleaning professional, ask them to use an EPA-approved algaecide/fungicide to wash your roof. This will remove the unpleasant algae and yellowing without ruining the tile or shingles.

More About Greenbelt, MD

Greenbelt is a city in Prince George’s County, Maryland, United States, and a suburb of Washington, D.C.[1][2] Greenbelt is notable for being the first and the largest of the three experimental and controversial New Deal Greenbelt Towns, planned and built by the Federal government.[6] The cooperative community was conceived in 1935 by Undersecretary of Agriculture Rexford Guy Tugwell, whose perceived collectivist ideology attracted opposition to the Greenbelt Towns project throughout its short duration.[7][6] The project came into legal existence in the spring of 1935. On April 8, 1935, Congress passed the Emergency Relief Appropriation Act of 1935.[8][7] Under the authority granted to him by this legislation, President Franklin D. Roosevelt issued an executive order, on May 1, 1935, establishing the United States Resettlement Administration (RA/RRA).[7]

Originally referred to as Maryland Special Project No. 1, the project was officially given the name Greenbelt when the Division of Suburban Resettlement of the Resettlement Administration began construction on January 13, 1936, approximately eight miles north of Washington.[6] The complete Greenbelt plans were reviewed at the White House by President Roosevelt and First Lady Eleanor Roosevelt on April 30, 1936.[6] The first tenants, after being selected through a stringent and restrictive application process, moved into the town, which consisted of structures built in the Art Deco, Streamline Moderne, and Bauhaus architectural styles, on September 30, 1937.[6]

Naturally, over time the roof begins to damage from continued weather battering. A structurally sound roofing does not collapse at one time but instead falls apart piece by piece along its weak lines. Roof assessments spot these weak points early before they spread and cause serious damage to part or the entire roof.

Roofing system evaluations at regular periods root out roofing system problems prior to they can even manifest themselves; extending the life-span of your roofing. A lot of property owners just pay attention to their roofings when there is visible damage, such as leaks and structural failure. Reality is, with routine evaluation such issues are normally evaded.

Roofing system assessments save you both money and time and are among one of the most basic roofing upkeep practices. There are several factors that can trigger a roofing’s condition to deteriorate with time. These are the impacts homeowners are least mindful of since the signs are subtle and take time to show.: Weather aspects are the main cause of roof damage.

The weather gradually wears away and erodes the roof material, and put strain onto the roofing structure.
