FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
Being one of their largest financial investments people usually have a plenty of questions before makingany decisions , below are a few of the more common ones…
Unless you’re a properly trained contractor, most roofing work should not be undertaken yourself. In addition bear in mind that a lot of manufacturers of products used in the roof repair won’t warranty those items unless a certified professional carries out the job. The other thing to always remember is that working on a roof could be very hazardous, so is it really worth jeopardizing your health for you to save money?
It would be great if we were able to give you a simple answer to that question! However there really is no single answer fits all for each question like that. There are a lot of different products readily available and each one will have its own advantages and disadvantages. To determine which is the best roof for you, you really should have an expert come and check out your roof and they can make recommendations based on what they discover, your roof design, the climate you live in and, of course, your budget.
It actually depends on the type of roof and exactly what inspections are mandated. Also, remember that we will be working outdoors in the elements, so if the weather is bad and we cannot work on particular days then this will definitely add time to the task. A small home may take around a week or so, whereas much larger commercial projects can be anything from a few weeks to a number of months. Just make sure your roofing company keeps you updated and you should be fine.
Because your roof is always subjected to the weather, it means your roof is will deteriorate over time. The rate at which it degrades will depend on a number of factors. Those include; the grade of the initial components that were used as well as the craftsmanship, the amount of abuse it will have to take from the elements, how well the roof is maintained and the design of the roof. Most roofing companies will quote around 20 years for a well-built and properly maintained roof, but obviously that can never be promised because of the above issues. Our suggestion is to consistently keep your roof well maintained and get regular checkups to make sure it lasts as long as possible.
You shouldn’t ever pressure-wash your roof, as you run the risk of eliminating any protective materials that have been included to offer protection from the elements. Aside from that, you really should keep away from chlorine-based bleach cleaners as they may also cut down the lifespan of your roof. When you speak with your roof cleaning expert, tell them to use an EPA-approved algaecide/fungicide to clean your roof. That will get rid of the unattractive algae and yellowing without ruining the tile or shingles.
