FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

As one of their most significant expenditures people typically have a number of questions before makingany decisions , below are some of the most commonplace ones…

Unless you’re a qualified roofing professional, most roofing work shouldn’t be undertaken yourself. Also bear in mind that most manufacturers of products utilized in the repair of the roof will not warranty those products unless a certified roofing contractor performs the work. Something else to bear in mind is that working on a roof may be very risky, so is it really worth endangering your health so you can save money?

It would be really good if we were able to give you a straight forward answer to that question! However, there actually is no one answer that fits all for every question like that. There are a lot of different products available and each has its own advantages and faults. To know which is the ideal roof for your home, you should have an expert come and take a look at your roof and they can make suggestions according to what they have seen, the type of roof you have, the climate you live in and, of course, your budget.

It definitely depends upon the kind of roof you have and what evaluations are mandated. Also, keep in mind that we will be working outside in the elements, so if the weather isn’t good and we cannot work on particular days then this will definitely add more time to the task. A smaller home could take around a week or so, while much larger industrial projects can be anything from a few weeks to a few months. Just make certain your roofing contractor keeps you updated and you should be fine.

Given that your roof is continuously exposed to the outside elements, this means your roof is will diminish over time. The speed at which it degrades will be dependent on a variety of variables. These include; the grade of the original materials used as well as the craftsmanship, the level of abuse it will have to take from the weather, how well the roof is maintained and the type of roof. Most roofing companies will quote around 20 years for a well-built and well-maintained roof, but that can never be guaranteed due to the above issues. Our advice is to always keep your roof well maintained and get regular roof inspections to be sure it lasts as long as possible.

You should not ever pressure wash your roof, as you take the risk of removing any protective materials that have been included to offer protection from the elements. In addition, you really should stay clear of chlorine-based bleach cleaning products as they can easily also decrease the lifespan of your roof. When you communicate with your roof cleaning specialist, ask them to use an EPA-approved algaecide/fungicide to wash your roof. That will remove the undesirable algae and staining without damaging the tile or shingles.

More About Pine Lake, GA

Pine Lake is the smallest city in DeKalb County, Georgia, United States. The population was 730 at the 2010 census.[5]

Pine Lake was established as a city in December 1937,[6] after a short life as a summer retreat run by the Pine Woods Corporation. The corporation sold lots around a small fishing lake to Atlantans who lived in (then) faraway areas like Buckhead for use as a weekend retreat. The 20′ x 100′ lots sold for $69, and the advertisement for lots directed people “from Decatur down the [unpaved] Rockbridge Road East.” Many homeowners continued to use their property as a weekend getaway long after the city incorporated. Prior to development, Pine Lake was a portion of a farm. The lake was formerly a widened region of Snapfinger Creek, and the valley that encompasses much of the town was where corn was grown. The lake was dammed by the Army Corps of Engineers as erosion and flood control, prior to the official FDR lake projects.

The terrific environment includes a rate, however. It can be rough on roofs. Our business prides itself on keeping your industrial roof and residential roof in prime condition. If you need a new roofing, we will install it. If you require repairs, we will do a quality task. We continuously strive to enhance our capability as domestic and commercial roofing contractors.

We use trust, integrity, quality, and comfort. Lots of business can offer you a roofing system, but very few can offer you the safe sensation that we do. Working with a quality roofing business decreases your worry and allows you to focus on your work and your household.

Homeowner maintenance includes cleaning up the leaves and particles from the roofing system’s valleys and seamless gutters. Particles in the valleys can trigger water to wick under the shingles and trigger damage to the interior of the roof. Blocked gutter can trigger water to recede under the shingles on the eaves and cause damage, despite the roof material.

The finest method to maintain your roofing system is to stay off it. Likewise, seasonal changes in the weather condition are typically the most devastating forces. A dripping roofing can harm ceilings, walls and furnishings. To protect structures and their contents from water damage, roofers repair work and set up roofing systems made of tar or asphalt and gravel; rubber or thermoplastic; metal; or shingles made of asphalt, slate, fiberglass, wood, tile, or other material.

There are two types of roofs: flat and pitched (sloped). Many business, industrial and apartment or condo buildings have flat or somewhat sloping roofing systems. Many houses have pitched roofs. Some roofers deal with both types; others specialize. A lot of flat roofs are covered with several layers of materials. Roofing professionals initially put a layer of insulation on the roof deck.

Next, they set up partly overlapping layers of roof felt, a fabric saturated in bitumen, over the surface area. Roofing professionals use a mop to spread out hot bitumen over the surface area and under the next layer. This seals the joints and makes the surface area watertight. Roofing contractors repeat these actions to develop the wanted variety of layers, called plies. To use shingles, roofing professionals initially lay, cut, and tack 3-foot strips of roofing felt lengthwise over the whole roof. Then, beginning from the bottom edge, they staple or nail overlapping rows of shingles to the roofing system. Employees step and cut the felt and shingles to fit intersecting roof surfaces and to fit around vent pipes and chimneys.

Lastly, roofing contractors cover exposed nailheads with roofing cement or caulking to avoid water leak. Roofing contractors who use tile, metal shingles or shakes follow a comparable process. Some roofers likewise water-proof and damp-proof masonry and concrete walls and floors. To prepare surface areas for waterproofing, they hammer and sculpt away rough areas, or eliminate them with a rubbing brick, before applying a coat of liquid waterproofing substance.

When damp-proofing, they usually spray a bitumen-based finish on interior or exterior surfaces. Asphalt is the most frequently used roofing product. Asphalt products consist of shingles, roll-roofing, built-up roof, and customized bitumen membranes. Asphalt shingles are generally the most typical and affordable option for property roof. They come in a variety of colors, shapes and textures.

Laminated shingles consist of more than one layer of tabs to supply additional density. Interlocking shingles are utilized to offer greater wind resistance. And large specific shingles normally are available in rectangular and hexagonal shapes. Roll-roofing products are typically utilized in residential applications, mostly for underlayments and flashings. They are available in 4 different kinds of product: smooth-surfaced, saturated felt, specialty-eaves flashings, and mineral-surfaced.

Smooth-surfaced items are used mainly as flashing to seal the roofing at intersections and protrusions, and for offering extra deck defense at the roofing system’s eaves and valleys. Saturated felt is used as an underlayment in between the roofing deck and the roof material. Specialty-eaves flashings are generally utilized in environments where ice dams and water backups are typical.

BUR is used on flat and low-sloped roofing systems and includes multiple layers of bitumen and ply sheets. Elements of a BUR system consist of the roofing deck, a vapor retarder, insulation, membrane, and appearing product. A modified bitumen-membrane assembly consists of constant plies of saturated felts, layered felts, materials or mats between which alternate layers of bitumen are applied, either surfaced or unsurfaced.
