FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
Being one of their largest financial investments people typically have a lotof questions prior to coming to a conclusion , listed here are a few of the most commonplace ones…
Unless you’re a certified roofing professional, the majority of roofing tasks should never be undertaken yourself. Also bear in mind that a lot of manufacturers of products used in the roof repair will not warranty those products unless a certified roofing contractor carries out the work. The other thing to bear in mind is that working on a roof could be very risky, so is it really worth jeopardizing your health so you can save money?
It would be fantastic if we were able to give you a straight forward answer to this question! However, there really is no single answer fits all for every question like that. There are so many unique products readily available and each and every one will have its own advantages and disadvantages. To determine which is the best roof for you, you should have a professional come and check out your roof and they can make recommendations based on what they observe, the type of roof you have, the environment you live in and, of course, your budget.
It actually depends upon the kind of roof you currently have and exactly what evaluations are mandated. Also, remember that we’re working outdoors in the elements, so if the weather isn’t good and we cannot work on a number of days then this will add time to the job. A smaller home could take around a week or so, while larger industrial projects can be anything from a few weeks to a number of months. Just ensure that your roofing company keeps you updated and you should be fine.
Due to the fact that your roof is consistently subjected to the weather, it means your roof is going to diminish with time. The rate at which it degrades will be dependent on a variety of factors. These include; the quality of the original components that were used along with the craftsmanship, the amount of abuse it will have to take from the weather, how well the roof is taken care of and the design of the roof. Most roofing companies will estimate around 20 years for a well-built and properly maintained roof, but that can never be promised as a result of the above factors. Our advice is to consistently keep your roof well maintained and get regular checkups to make sure it lasts as long as possible.
You shouldn’t ever pressure-wash your roof, as you take the risk of washing away any protective materials that have been included to provide protection from the weather. Also, you should avoid chlorine-based bleach cleaners as they can easily also cut down the life-span of your roof. When you talk to your roof cleaning professional, ask them to use an EPA-approved algaecide/fungicide to wash your roof. This will clear away the unattractive algae and discoloration without destroying the tile or shingles.

More About Sandston, VA
Sandston is a census-designated place (CDP) in Henrico County, Virginia, United States, just outside the state capital of Richmond. The population as of the 2010 Census was 7,571.
During World War I, a number of homes were built in the area for both non-commissioned officers and enlisted men. After the war, an investment group headed by Oliver J. Sands bought the land and buildings as surplus property. The community was named Sandston after Oliver Sands, the president of the Richmond and Fairfield Railway, the electric street railway line which ran through Highland Springs and Fair Oaks to the National Cemetery at Seven Pines.

The wonderful environment includes a rate, however. It can be rough on roofings. Our company prides itself on keeping your business roofing and domestic roofing in prime condition. If you need a new roof, we will install it. If you require repair work, we will do a quality job. We continuously make every effort to improve our capability as property and industrial roofing professionals.

We provide trust, integrity, quality, and comfort. Many companies can provide you a roofing system, however very few can provide you the protected feeling that we do. Working with a quality roof company minimizes your concern and enables you to focus on your work and your household.
House owner maintenance includes cleaning the leaves and particles from the roof’s valleys and seamless gutters. Particles in the valleys can trigger water to wick under the shingles and cause damage to the interior of the roof. Stopped up rain gutters can cause water to recede under the shingles on the eaves and cause damage, despite the roof product.
The finest way to maintain your roofing is to remain off it. Likewise, seasonal modifications in the weather are typically the most harmful forces. A dripping roof can damage ceilings, walls and home furnishings. To protect buildings and their contents from water damage, roofing contractors repair work and set up roofings made from tar or asphalt and gravel; rubber or thermoplastic; metal; or shingles made from asphalt, slate, fiberglass, wood, tile, or other product.
There are two kinds of roofs: flat and pitched (sloped). Most commercial, commercial and apartment have flat or slightly sloping roofs. Many homes have pitched roofings. Some roofing contractors work on both types; others specialize. The majority of flat roofs are covered with several layers of products. Roofing professionals first put a layer of insulation on the roofing system deck.
Next, they install partially overlapping layers of roofing felt, a material filled in bitumen, over the surface. Roofing contractors utilize a mop to spread out hot bitumen over the surface area and under the next layer. This seals the joints and makes the surface watertight. Roofing professionals duplicate these actions to develop the preferred number of layers, called plies. To apply shingles, roofing contractors first lay, cut, and tack 3-foot strips of roofing felt lengthwise over the whole roofing. Then, beginning from the bottom edge, they staple or nail overlapping rows of shingles to the roofing. Employees step and cut the felt and shingles to fit converging roofing surfaces and to fit around vent pipes and chimneys.
Finally, roofing contractors cover exposed nailheads with roof cement or caulking to avoid water leakage. Roofing professionals who utilize tile, metal shingles or shakes follow a comparable process. Some roofing professionals also water-proof and damp-proof masonry and concrete walls and floorings. To prepare surfaces for waterproofing, they hammer and sculpt away rough spots, or remove them with a rubbing brick, prior to using a coat of liquid waterproofing compound.
When damp-proofing, they usually spray a bitumen-based finish on interior or outside surface areas. Asphalt is the most frequently used roofing material. Asphalt items include shingles, roll-roofing, built-up roofing, and customized bitumen membranes. Asphalt shingles are usually the most typical and affordable choice for domestic roofing. They come in a range of colors, shapes and textures.
Laminated shingles include more than one layer of tabs to offer extra density. Interlocking shingles are utilized to offer higher wind resistance. And large specific shingles typically come in rectangle-shaped and hexagonal shapes. Roll-roofing items are usually utilized in residential applications, mainly for underlayments and flashings. They can be found in 4 various types of product: smooth-surfaced, saturated felt, specialty-eaves flashings, and mineral-surfaced.
Smooth-surfaced products are utilized mainly as flashing to seal the roofing at crossways and protrusions, and for providing extra deck security at the roofing’s eaves and valleys. Saturated felt is used as an underlayment between the roofing system deck and the roof material. Specialty-eaves flashings are normally utilized in environments where ice dams and water backups are typical.
BUR is used on flat and low-sloped roofings and consists of numerous layers of bitumen and ply sheets. Elements of a BUR system include the roofing deck, a vapor retarder, insulation, membrane, and emerging product. A modified bitumen-membrane assembly consists of continuous plies of saturated felts, coated felts, fabrics or mats in between which alternate layers of bitumen are used, either emerged or unsurfaced.
