Based on your selections, the results will show cost per mile and weekly, monthly and annual fuel costs for both vehicles. Fuel cost results will be based on the following average petrol, diesel and electricity prices. After having made your vehicle selection, there is an option to enter the mileage, frequency and MPG type. For MPG type, the calculator defaults to Real MPG which is more representative of real-life driving conditions as compared to the Official MPG figure.
The fuel price assumptions for petrol, diesel and electricity are based on a weekly average UK price.
Fuel cost is calculated by multiplying a vehicle's fuel economy by fuel price and the distance driven. For light-duty vehicles that are powered by petrol, diesel or electricity, official performance data is sourced from the UK Vehicle Certification Agency (VCA) or manufacturers' websites. The calculation for vehicles powered solely by petrol, diesel or electricity is relatively straightforward as the official test data is widely published in the public domain, and real-world correction factors are well-known given the availability of large data sets generated by vehicles driven on real roads.
The data sourcing and calculation for plug-in hybrid electric vehicles is more complex, as they can be simultaneously powered by electricity and petrol or diesel.

Calculating your fuel consumption is an easy and free way to help save money at the pump as well as giving help towards providing some insight as to your vehicle’s overall health.
The easiest way to see exactly how many miles to the gallon you’re truly getting is to either write down the mileage of your odometer the next time you fill up your tank completely. By keeping up on your fuel calculator, you can get a decent gauge of how some of the other parts of your vehicle are doing. Paying attention to your driving habits is a great way to optimize your fuel economy as well.

Audi has launched a new online fuel calculator that allows customers to compare the manufacturer's current models in terms of purchase price, fuel economy and estimated fuel costs. Users input information, such as average annual mileage, expected length of ownership and local fuel costs, and the calculator works out the most relevant models. The calculator displays the official government fuel economy figures for each model chosen, based on a specific mpg figure that the customer wants to use as a comparison – either ‘urban’, ‘extra urban’ or ‘combined’. The calculator then delivers monthly and annual sums that may be saved by choosing the more economical of any two models selected, alongside clearly displayed purchase price information. With an increasing number of car manufacturers jumping on the efficiency bandwagon it's rather interesting that none touts a driving cost meter. Fuel Calculator allows the driver to determine fuel costs over time, for more than one vehicle, through a detailed history based on each fill up. If you drive more than two miles out of your way to save a penny per litre when filling up at the pump, you’re wasting your time and your money.
This is according to our latest research which found that drivers who travel further to visit a petrol station with cheaper fuel could be collectively wasting ?528 million every month. After studying more than 600 drivers’ habits when it comes to filling up their cars, we found the biggest influence on where people refuel was convenience – with 83% of people going wherever is easiest.
An almost equal 81% said price also had an effect on their decision, which suggests drivers could be travelling to stations with cheaper fuel to save a bit of money.
However, after crunching the numbers we’ve found there’s a tipping point at which cheaper fuel actually becomes more expensive because of the cost of travelling to the station selling it. For instance, it’s fine to drive two miles to get fuel that’s 1p per litre cheaper, but drive any further and you cancel out the saving completely. Similarly, it’s worth driving up to four miles for fuel that’s 2p per litre cheaper, but any further and it’s a waste of time and money. On the flipside, drive a mile out of your way for fuel that’s 5p per litre cheaper and you’ll save ?2.32 filling a 50 litre tank – so it’s well worth it. There’s some terribly complex number-crunching behind these results, so we’ve built a terribly clever calculator for you to work out for yourself how far it’s worth travelling for cheaper fuel.
Just tell us the price of fuel at your nearest station, the cheaper price at a petrol station further away, and then the size of your car and type of route you’ll be taking. With that information the calculator will tell you how much you could save by travelling further – or if you should just keep it local.
Dan Plant, consumer expert at MoneySuperMarket, said: “It’s no surprise cash-strapped motorists are seeking out cheaper petrol prices, especially at a time when prices are finally falling – particularly for diesel – at some, but not all, stations. The fuel cost calculator results are based on the current UK average petrol, diesel and electricity prices; these are editable if these do not reflect the prices you are paying in your area, or you wish to see the impact of a change in fuel prices. It is widely acknowledged that the official figures overstate the achievable MPG and thus will also show a lower fuel cost per period. To change these figures to a figure more representative of your local area, or to see the impact of a change in the fuel prices, the drop-downs provided can be used to alter the prices. The calculator, which can be used for all vehicle types, provides two results – one based on official fuel economy data and the other representing real-world driving. Real-world performance factors are ether estimated using established data sources (such as the ICCT) or modelled using available UK real road test data. For the real-world estimate of fuel costs for PHEVs, the calculation assumes that the vehicle is driven for half the distance in EV-mode and half using a conventional fuel.

Alternatively, most vehicles have a built in “trip meter” which you can set to 0 by pressing in the button next to your odometer.

Some aspects of your vehicle need to be maintained in order to maximize fuel economy, and using a fuel calculator like described above is a good way to tell. Keeping a log of your fuel economy via a fuel economy calculator (whether it’s on a piece of paper or written down in your cell phone) offers insight as to what you should focus on. Once an Audi model has been selected, customers can then request a test drive directly from the calculator site.
The average fuel price is calculated from the AA Fuel Price Report, but users can manually enter the price from their local service station if preferred. Luckily Fuel Calculator keeps track of fuel bills and efficiency right on your Android device. It also delivers a number of indicators such as average distance per unit currency (in KM per EUR for instance) or total amount of used fuel (in gallons or liters). Results can be displayed in either imperial or metric units, and a number of currencies can be used including EUR and US$. Try to use the same station using the same pump as the first fill up, as pumps may be calibrated differently.
In either case, you’re setting a reference point for how many miles you’re driving in between filling up.
Fuel injectors, tyres, and driving habits are easy things to check and see if you notice a positive change in your fuel economy. The tool also factors in the latest fuel prices, to ensure each comparison is as accurate as possible. In order to determine the cost the app requires the user to input distance between fills, quantity of fuel used as well as the price per unit, in the "Fill Up" tab. The website can tailor its operations to your needs, likes and dislikes by gathering and remembering information about your preferences.
I was just talking that when you fill always from same Pump, it i better to always stop at cut-off.
Drive your vehicle until you need to get a full tank of gas again, sticking to your normal driving habits and routine. Ensure your tyres are properly inflated (most cars will have the proper PSI on the wheel themselves) helps to keep your fuel economy up. Next time you pull up to the pump, make a note of how many miles your odometer reads and subtract that from your initial reference point, or simply look at the trip meter if you used that method.
Just make sure when you’re inflating the tyres, check each individual wheel as you go; some vehicles will have different PSI requirements on the front and back. Your air conditioner being on can also negatively impact fuel consumption due to bearing load on the engine. Fill up the tank and make a note of how many litres you’ve put into your vehicle when the pump stops. You can also try using a premium fuel instead of the cheapest stuff; if you notice a significant increase in fuel economy, you can see if the better gas offsets the cost of the worse fuel consumption.
Simply divide the miles you drove on that tank of gas by the number of litres it took to refuel. There are many other tips and tricks to keeping your vehicle running and looking at it’s best!
This is a bottle of fluid that you add in to your gas tank the next time you fill up that can help clear out gunk from your fuel injectors, helping to keep your fuel consumption at it’s highest.
