Blue Dimension - Info & Facts & FAQs - updated 1/7/2025

Blue Dimensions is a weekly one-hour program of blues, jazz, international folk, world music, and other related styles. The host and producer of Blue Dimensions is Jonny Meister.

A new program in the Blue Dimensions series is published on PRX on Wednesday each week.

The format is:

00:05 Part 1 begins with a billboard over the opening theme, previewing what's coming up, starting with "This is Blue Dimensions. I'm Jonny Meister."

01:00 Part 1 proceeds with the host introducing the first piece of music

(In this general example, we are using 30:00 as the time the first part of the show ends. This time, near the bottom of the hour, will vary with each program and will be specified in the show description for each show as it is published.)

30:00 end of part 1: end/outcue: "... coming up in a moment, here on Blue Dimensions."

This is followed by 1 second of silence, and a musical break/bed that plays for 58 seconds and fades, at the end of which there is 1 second of silence. Thus the total break — 1 second of silence, 58 seconds of music, and 1 second of silence — is one minute total.

31:00 part 2 begins: show re-intro: "This is Blue Dimensions. I'm Jonny Meister."

58:03 at approximately 58:03 closing theme starts and host outros the show over it.

58:54 ending theme fades, ending part 2, followed by the five-second Bluesnet Radio Audio Logo

58:59  program ends, with one second of silence at the end. At 58:59, one second before 59:00, the show is over.

Notes:

Playlist files are supplied as Excel workbooks (xlsx files), named by the program number in the program's continuing series. The format of these files matches that of the PRX show information form.

Example: blue-dimensions-N25-playlist.xlsx is the playlist file for Blue Dimensions program # N25.

The "official" date and time of an given program in the supplied playlist (see below for playlist details and contents) is midnight on the Sunday after the Wednesday that the show goes up on PRX.

Thus a show published on PRX on Wednesday, January 8, 2025, would be dated as Sunday, Janusry 12, 2025, at midnight, in the supplied playlist file.

You can easily change the date and hour of all the entries in the playlist using global replacement.

This playlist should satisfy all reporting requirements. Note that song durations include a field for hours! Few songs exceed an hour (and none on this 59-minute program!), but we're told SoundExchange wants this... that's why it is set up thus.
