Yoghurt in curries is such a fantastic healthy substitute for the cream-laden kormas served in most restaurants.  From experience, I have noticed that low fat natural Greek yogurt gives a wonderful creamy texture, more so  than low-fat natural yoghurt. Secondly, yoghurt is a rich source of calcium – a mineral that contributes to colon health and decreases the risk of colon cancer. Perhaps we can take a health tip about yoghurt cultures from cultures who consume a lot of yoghurt, such as the Indians who are noted for their longer lifespan and remain in good health well into old age. My Greek Yogurt Banana Bread is one of my most popular recipes here on Lovely Little Kitchen. So amazing what a little cocoa powder and chocolate chips will do to a simple loaf of banana bread.
I mada banana bread the other day and added 2tspn baking powder n half a tspn of bakin soda in it? Hi Melissa, yes I would start checking for doneness at about 18 minutes by inserting a toothpick into the center of a muffin. Thanks everyone and I hope you give this Creamy Greek Yogurt Alfredo Sauce a try!  It definitely will win you over. These are a few of my favorite things: cooking, baking, Broadway musicals, cruises, Disney World, Christmas, thunderstorms, 80's and country music, and my favorite pastime has ALWAYS been baseball. According to this article, Chobani is now the most popular brand of yogurt in the United States in 2012. If you go to the Chobani website and click on an individual yogurt flavor, it shows the ingredients on the lower right. Also, if you are dairy-free, Yoplait makes a Lactose-Free Yogurt that I have heard many positive things about. I have never tried Stonyfield yogurt before, but after reading about their products and mission, I definitely will be soon. According to their website, all of Stonyfield’s yogurts, smoothies, and soy yogurts (with the exception of YoToddler Plus Fruit and Cereal) are certified gluten-free by the Gluten-Free Certification Organization. So, there is a rundown of four of the most popular brands of yogurt and their gluten situation.
Calcium discourages excess growth of the cells lining the colon, which can place a person at high risk for colon cancer. In fact, the yoghurt used to coat nibble foods such as raisins, nuts, and fruit bits is often so highly sugared that you’re really eating more sugar than yoghurt.
The texture is spot on, and one of my favorite things about it is the delicate crunch that comes from crushed up sliced almonds.
It’s always better to test your bread to see if it is done rather than to just rely on a set time.
Well id like to know if texture comes ok if i dont add baking powder at all, but only baking soda 1 teaspoon? I was just wondering whether it is suitable for 6 people or I might have to add double portion of all the ingredients.

I use it all the time in baking and really need to use it in more savory dishes like this one. Lately, however, I have seen a ton of foods that I believed to be gluten-free containing hidden gluten, so I thought I would try to go a little more in-depth and check out the popular yogurt brands one by one to see what I could find. I remember our fridge being stocked with Yoplait yogurt while I was growing up, and I have to say, I was a pretty big fan. I carefully read over the ingredients list and saw nothing that could be potentially worrisome for a gluten-free eater.
Many people who cannot tolerate milk, either because of a protein allergy or lactose intolerance, can enjoy yoghurt.
Calcium also binds cancer-producing bile acids and keeps them from irritating the colon wall.
Researchers who studied 68 people who ate two cups of live-culture yoghurt daily for three months found that these persons produced higher levels of immunity boosting interferon.
Some viral and allergic gastrointestinal disorders injure the lining of the intestines, especially the cells that produce lactase. Research has shown that eating eight ounces of yoghurt that contains live and active cultures daily reduces the amount of yeast colonies in the vagina and decreases the incidence of vaginal yeast infections. Plain yoghurt contains around ten to fourteen grams of protein per eight ounces, which amounts to twenty percent of the daily protein requirement for most persons. They pretty much just dropped the banana part and deemed this the BEST CHOCOLATE BREAD ever! Look for a crack in the top of the bread, and use a toothpick to see if there is still wet batter inside the bread.
It appears that all of the regular Yoplait yogurt is gluten-free; be sure to avoid the parfaits and anything else with oats and barley malt. Yogurt can be a wonderful source of calcium, live cultures, and other vitamins and minerals, so making it a regular part of your diet is a smart choice.
First, yoghurt contains lactobacteria, intestines-friendly bacterial cultures that foster a healthy colon, and even lower the risk of colon cancer.
The lactic acid in the yoghurt aids in the digestion of the milk calcium, making it easier to absorb. The bacterial cultures in yoghurt have also been shown to stimulate infection-fighting white cells in the bloodstream. In fact, eight ounces of yoghurt that contains live and active cultures, contains 20 percent more protein than the same volume of milk (10 grams versus 8 grams). This may be because the live cultures in yoghurt can assimilate the cholesterol or because yoghurt binds bile acids, (which has also been shown to lower cholesterol), or both. And even if I double the recipe and make variations and sometime screw up tablespoons with teaspoons, somehow it still tastes delish.
I’m pretty sure they were wondering why I would let them eat something that so closely resembled a brownie for breakfast! As always, read your labels to double-check for gluten-containing ingredients; better safe than sorry!

The live active cultures create lactase, the enzyme lactose-intolerant people lack, and another enzyme contained in some yoghurts (beta-galactosidase) also helps improve lactose absorption in lactase-deficient persons. Lactobacteria, especially acidophilus, promotes the growth of healthy bacteria in the colon and reduces the conversion of bile into carcinogenic bile acids. Some studies have shown yoghurt cultures to contain a factor that has anti-tumor effects in experimental animals. This is why children often cannot tolerate milk for a month or two after an intestinal infection.
Because the live-active cultures in yoghurt increase the absorption of calcium, an 8-ounce serving of yoghurt gets more calcium into the body than the same volume of milk can. Besides being a rich source of proteins, the culturing of the milk proteins during fermentation makes these proteins easier to digest. I even used motor oil instead of coconut oil, and pebbles instead of chocolate chips, and it still tasted fabulous.
I love this amazing recipe lightening this sauce up with Greek yogurt so I can enjoy my favorite sauce at home without all the guilt. Bacterial enzymes created by the culturing process, partially digest the milk protein casein, making it easier to absorb and less allergenic.
The more of these intestines-friendly bacteria that are present in your colon, the lower the chance of colon diseases. One study showed that an average intake of 1,200 milligrams of calcium a day is associated with a 75 percent reduction of colorectal cancer. Basically, the friendly bacteria in yoghurt seems to deactivate harmful substances (such as nitrates and nitrites before they are converted to nitrosamines) before they can become carcinogenic.
Many pediatricians recommend yoghurt for children suffering from various forms of indigestion.
Mix in chocolate chips until well combined, saving a few to sprinkle over the top of each loaf.
While the amount varies among brands of yoghurt, in general, yoghurt has less lactose than milk.
The culturing process has already broken down the milk sugar lactose into glucose and galactose, two sugars that are easily absorbed by lactose-intolerant persons. Bake for 32-35 minutes or until a toothpick inserted into the center of the loaf comes out clean. The yoghurt will minimize the effects of the antibiotic on the friendly bacteria in the intestines.
