Uno is a widely popular and engaging card game known for its simplicity and the strategic element of announcing color changes. The objective is straightforward: players aim to be the first to eliminate all the cards in their hand by matching either the rank or the color of the card previously played. The game begins with each player being dealt a hand of seven cards, and one card is placed face-up to start the discard pile. The remaining deck is placed face down to form the draw pile. Players take turns in a clockwise direction, and on their turn, they must play a card that matches the color (red, blue, green, or yellow) or the rank (0-9, Skip, Reverse, Draw Two, Wild, Wild Draw Four) of the card currently on top of the discard pile. If a player cannot play a matching card, they are obligated to draw a card from the draw pile. Strategic play often involves holding onto cards like Skip, Reverse, and Draw Two to disrupt opponents, while Wild and Wild Draw Four cards allow the player to change the color of the game and impose additional penalties on their opponents. The game culminates when a player successfully plays their last card, shouting "Uno!" to notify others that they are down to one card, and the round ends with the player who played the last card starting the next round.
