Uno is a popular and fast-paced card game designed for 2 to 10 players, utilizing a standard 52-card deck augmented by special action cards. The objective is straightforward: players aim to be the first to reduce their hand of cards to zero by matching the color, number, or symbol of the card currently on top of the discard pile. Gameplay begins with one player drawing seven cards and placing the top card of the deck face-up to start the discard pile. Each subsequent player is required to match the top card's attribute—be it the color (red, blue, green, or yellow), the number (ranging from 0 to 9, with two copies of each number except 0), or the symbol (Skip, Reverse, or Draw Two)—before drawing any new cards. If a player cannot match, they must draw one card from the deck. The game introduces strategic depth through special cards: the Wild card allows the player to choose the next color, while the Wild Draw Four card forces the next player to draw four cards and also choose the color. The Reverse card changes the direction of play, and the Skip card causes the next player to miss their turn. The game accelerates as players draw cards, and the first player to empty their hand shouts "Uno!" to signal victory, though failing to do so typically results in a small penalty.
