Rummy is a classic and engaging tile-based matching card game, typically played with two to six players using one or two standard 52-card decks (with the jokers removed for a two-player game, or included for games with more than two players). The objective is straightforward: players aim to form sets (sequences of three or four cards of the same rank, such as 7-7-7 or Jack-Jack-Jack) and runs (sequences of three or four cards of consecutive rank and the same suit, like 4♥-5♥-6♥ or 9♠-10♠-J♠). The game progresses in two main phases: the dealing phase, where each player receives a certain number of tiles (often 10 or 11), and the gameplay phase, where players take turns drawing a tile from either the discard pile or the stock pile, discarding one tile of their own choice to maintain their hand's potential for melding. Throughout their turn, players strategically discard tiles to the central discard pile, hoping to eventually go out by melding all their tiles into valid sets and runs and then discarding their final tile. If a player cannot take a tile from the discard pile, they must draw from the stock pile. The game ends when a player successfully goes out, and the remaining players calculate their scores based on the value of the unmelded tiles left in their hands.
