Rummy is a classic card game played with the standard 52-card deck, often incorporating two Jokers drawn from the deck to act as wild cards. The primary objective is to form sets or runs. A set consists of three or four cards of the same rank but different suits (e.g., three 7s: 7♠, 7♥, 7♦). A run comprises three or more cards in consecutive order of the same suit (e.g., a run of hearts: 3♥, 4♥, 5♥, 6♥). Players are dealt a hand of cards, and the remaining deck forms the draw pile, with the top card often placed face-up to start the discard pile. Gameplay involves taking turns to draw either the top card from the draw pile or the top card from the discard pile, adding it to their hand. The goal is to strategically discard cards onto the discard pile, aiming to reduce their hand to just the required sets and runs. The turn ends when a player either discards a card or, if they draw from the discard pile, places that card in their hand without discarding anything. The game ends when a player successfully "goes out" by laying down all their cards into valid sets and runs, typically by discarding the final card onto the discard pile. The winner of a round is usually the player who goes out, scoring points based on the value of the cards left in their opponents' hands.
