President, often known as "Assassin" or "Euchre" in some regions, is a classic trick-taking card game typically played by four players in two competing partnerships. The objective is to accumulate points by winning specific "tricks" during the course of the game, with the ultimate goal being to reach 25 points and declare "President." To begin, a standard 52-card deck is used, and players are dealt a hand of either 5 or 7 cards, depending on the variant being played. The game is played in four rounds, each corresponding to a different rank: Ace, King, Queen, and Jack. Each round, the player to the dealer's left leads the first trick by playing any card from their hand. Subsequent players must follow suit if they can; if they cannot, they may play any card from their hand. The highest card of the led suit wins the trick, unless a trump card is played. Trump cards are determined by the rank being played in that round, and the highest trump card wins the trick. Players aim to win tricks containing high-value cards, as each Ace is worth 4 points, each King is worth 3 points, each Queen is worth 2 points, and each Jack is worth 1 point. The first player to reach or exceed 25 points becomes the President for the next round, and the game continues until all players have had a turn to be President.
