One Card is a simple yet engaging card game designed for quick play, typically involving two to six players. The objective is straightforward: be the last player holding cards by strategically passing and collecting cards based on the value of the top card of the discard pile. Gameplay begins with each player being dealt a specific number of cards (usually three or four, depending on the agreed-upon rules and the number of players). The remaining deck is placed face down to form the draw pile, and the top card of this pile is flipped face up beside it to start the discard pile. The player to the left of the dealer starts the round by playing one card from their hand onto the discard pile, ensuring that the card played is of the same suit as the card currently on top of the discard pile, or if no matching suit is available, they must play a card of the same rank. Once a card is played, the player may choose to draw one card from the draw pile to replace the card they played, though this is optional. Play then moves clockwise to the next player, who must follow the same suit or rank rule, play a card, and optionally draw from the draw pile. If a player cannot play a card according to the rules, they must draw one card from the draw pile and pass their turn. The round continues until all players have played all their cards, at which point a new round begins with the player to the left of the previous round's winner going first. The game ends when one player has used all their cards, becoming the winner, while the remaining players count the value of the cards they are still holding; typically, face cards are worth ten points, number cards are worth their face value, and an Ace is worth one point. The player with the lowest total value at the end of the game is declared the victor.
