Jim Rummy is a lively and accessible card game, often played with a standard 52-card deck and typically involving 2-6 players. The primary objective is to be the first player to lay down all of their cards into valid sets or runs. A 'set' consists of three or four cards of the same rank but different suits (e.g., three 7s of hearts, diamonds, and clubs). A 'run' comprises three or more cards in sequence, all of the same suit (e.g., 4, 5, 6 of spades). Players are dealt a hand of cards, and the remaining deck forms the draw pile, with the top card often flipped face-up to start the discard pile. On their turn, a player must either match the top card of the discard pile using a set or run, discard one card from their hand, or draw a card from the draw pile (and then optionally discard). The game progresses quickly as players strategically discard cards they don't need, aiming to empty their hands while anticipating future draws and discarding actions from opponents.
