By carefully observing your partner's discards and the declarer's plays, you can sometimes deduce which hand they are holding. If you suspect the dummy is weak, you might deliberately play a high card from your own hand on a suit where you know they have entries, hoping to make them think you are strong in that suit and thus lead them to discard potentially useful cards from their hand. Conversely, if you believe the dummy is strong, you might play lower cards from your hand, making the declarer think you are weak and encouraging them to cover up their own weaknesses.
