5, Octagonia (3rd Visit) - Dragon Quest XI Guide

Octagonia, located in the northern part of Dundrasil Region, has undergone a significant transformation. The town is now overrun by monsters, and Upper Octagonia has been converted into a casino. Rab suspects that Jade is hiding somewhere in town, so let's take a closer look around.

As usual, check out the shops to see if there are any interesting items available for purchase. The lower part of the city remains unchanged, except for the fact that the people have turned into monsters. Once you're ready, head to the casino.

The only game available in the casino is the Slime Quest slot machine, which can be easily won with a large number of tokens. However, do not get too carried away, as the tokens are apparently not real and will disappear from your pocket once the boss of this area is defeated.

At the exchange counter, you'll find that the prizes are also quite useless. For example, spending 50,000 tokens on manure might not be worth your while. However, spend 10,000 tokens to obtain a Love Potion and give it to the green dracky blocking access to the VIP floor. The green dracky will move out of the way, allowing you to pass through.

It seems that Jade is not quite herself, and she's quick to attack when your party tries to persuade her to join them.

Boss Battle: Jinxed Jade

Try not to waste too many resources on her, as the main boss follows almost immediately after this encounter. To begin, apply Sap and Decelerate on her, then go on the offensive right away. The main issue here is her Puff-Puff ability, which will mesmerize your characters almost without fail. Even with +3 accessories that protect against ailments, you'll still need to use something in your arsenal that can lock away her abilities.

Rab should focus on keeping your party's health up. If you have anything in your arsenal that can lock away her abilities, be sure to use it. Hendrik should cast Holy Impregnable on himself while the others are brought back to their senses using Sylvando's Sobering Slap ability. It's also a good idea to enter this battle with all of your characters fully powered up, so you can defeat her quickly and save your resources for the tougher battle ahead.

Boss Battle: Booga

Buff your party with Kabuff and Magic Barrier, making sure to cast the latter twice to reduce damage from Booga's Kafrizz spell. If you have several Asbestos Earrings available, be sure to put them on as well. Apply Sap and Decelerate on Booga, then go to town on him.

Booga also has a seductive dance that can cause your characters to start dancing and waste their turn. His third ability can mesmerize a character when it opens.

Sylvando has a much better chance of withstanding these troublesome status ailments, so hopefully you always have him available to cure any mesmerized characters. It would be nice if you could get Antimagic or Fizzle to stick, but Booga seems to have good resistance against those. Rab should cast Right as Rain and use Multiheal to keep everyone healthy at all times. Sylvando's Hustle Dance does the job well enough too.

With Booga defeated, his hold over Jade and the entire town will be broken. Hero will regain the Green Orb, and Jade will gain the ever-useful Re-Vamp ability. She has Lorelei's Harp, which should allow you to access Sniflheim once again on your way to Arboria. But we'll deal with Hotto's dragon problem first.
