Now I have come up with a new diet I have been hearing about people having a really low sugar diet, and since I tend to consume lots of sugar in either drinks or sweet foods, I have decided to cut down, or cut out sugar. Fruit should be eaten as part of a healthy diet that also consists of vegetables, grains, and lean proteins. Some very healthy fruits include apples, apricots, pears, grapefruit, papaya, watermelon, and peaches.
Of course, there are more fruits that are low in sugar that may be eaten as part of a healthy diet that is low in sugar and carbohydrates. In addition, keep in mind that the carbohydrates found in fruit are known as complex carbohydrates, and fruit contains high levels of fiber.
Blood sugar imbalance (low blood sugar or high blood sugar) is a condition in which your body does not handle glucose effectively. This is a HUGE topic, and well beyond the scope of an article, but we will hit the highlights in a nutshell. Throughout the day blood glucose levels may fluctuate outside of the bodies desired blood glucose range. There are many symptoms associated with low blood sugar but the following ones are most common. You can also experience what we call a ‘low blood sugar crash’ which may result in a combination of all the low blood sugar symptoms. When you consume concentrated sugars or refined grains there is a rapid rise in your blood sugar levels.   Insulin is then released from your pancreas and begins to open channels on cell membranes allowing glucose to travel from the blood into body cells.
In some individuals, too much insulin is released in response to a carbohydrate or sugar rich meal. When insulin is high, lots of cell glucose channels become opened which results in the blood glucose level dropping too low. This can also contribute to the cycle of subsequent sugar cravings throughout the day as the body cries out for an immediate source of sugar to bring blood sugar levels up again quickly. Many people intuitively know that they have a blood sugar problem but wonder if they should get a medical diagnosis.  They ask us if they should get a blood test. Blood tests are great for letting you know if you have HIGH blood sugar but we haven’t found them to be an accurate indicator of low blood sugar problems, your symptoms will give you a much more accurate picture. If you answer ‘yes’ to several of the following questions or say ‘yes’ to just one of the questions marked with a double asterisk (**) then you can safely assume that you have a low blood sugar problem known as hypoglycemia. Very Important Note: Did you know that ALL type 2 diabetes (onset diabetes) is preceded by untreated low blood sugar problems?  In other words, if you have a Low Blood Sugar issue and you don’t fix it, you are a prime candidate for type 2 diabetes.
There can come a time when your cells have let in too much insulin and start now resist letting any more enter.  This is called insulin resistance.
If insulin resistance (precursor to type 2 diabetes) is not corrected, eventually the pancreas will become exhausted and no longer be able to produce adequate amounts of insulin. This is how low blood sugar issues that are not nutritionally remedied will lead to diabetes.

The good news is you can reverse low blood sugar and type 2 diabetes.  Here are the first steps in that process. Chromium: is a naturally occurring trace mineral that enhances insulin’s effect in the body, improving the uptake of glucose, causing better blood circulation and maintenance of blood sugar level.
Most food today is very low in chromium, especially refined flour and refined sugars and sweets of all kinds, including even fruits. Add one chromium picolinate (from our online store) twice a day for additional blood sugar balancing. L-glutamine is an amino acid that your body can use as emergency fuel.  For example, if you have a blood sugar crash, from either eating sugar and then crashing or from going too long without food, reach for l-glutamine instead of sugar. It is has also been proven effective for reducing any type of cravings for carbs or sweets including alcohol. Hypoglycemia symptoms, causes, treatment – i thought high, I thought high blood sugar was bad. If you are suffering from diabetes and have been taking treatment for it, you would know that missing meals or taking too much insulin or to many tablets can cause the blood sugar levels to drop to a dangerously low level. In this article, we shall briefly review the steps that patients must take in case they feel that their blood sugar levels are low or the reading on the glucometer demonstrates very low blood sugar levels. Symptoms of low blood sugar can include sweating, blurred vision, shaking of the hands (tremors), irritability, headache and altered consciousness levels (feeling drowsy). A worrying aspect of low blood sugar levels is them dropping to dangerously low levels when driving. If your blood sugar levels are low and you are experiencing symptoms similar to what have just been described, it is essential to receive some form of treatment immediately. If blood glucose levels remain low despite the above measures, then it is essential that you see a doctor as soon as possible. The worry about hypoglycemia unawareness is that it can occur at night when patients are asleep.
Hypoglycemia unawareness is seen in patients who have suffered from diabetes for a number of years, have had multiple episodes of low blood sugar levels and control their blood sugar levels very stringently. Finally, we strongly recommend that patients who develop hypoglycemia unawareness DO NOT drive until they have seen their doctor.
The best way to keep an eye on your blood sugar levels is to monitor them regularly at home using a glucometer. Unfortunately, fruit can also be very high in carbohydrates and in sugar, which can be detrimental to people who are trying to maintain a healthy weight, or to manage blood sugar conditions such as diabetes.
Low sugar choices from the berry family are also a good choice for a healthy snack; these may include strawberries, blueberries, blackberries, cranberries, boysenberries, and cherries. For those with medical conditions or who are concerned about weight management, a doctor or registered dietitian may be able to provide a more comprehensive list.

Of course, portion size has an impact as well; it is entirely possible to eat a smaller portion size of a fruit that is considered to be high in sugar to avoid some of the negative effects. This means that the sugars found even in high sugar fruits metabolize in the body more slowly that simple sugars found in processed foods, helping to prevent blood sugar spikes and crashes. Swinging from being very high after a meal, stimulant or stress, to being very low, say if you skipped a meal. But if too much sugar or refined carbohydrates are consumed the blood sugar goes to high, causing high insulin and resulting in yet another crash.
It then becomes impossible to achieve perfect blood sugar balance and insulin dependent diabetes ensues. Your best protein sources are from humanely raised (grass fed or pasture raised without hormones or antibiotics) animal products ie eggs, full fat dairy (not milk), wild (not farmed) fish, beef, bison, lamb, poultry, etc.

But before we discuss that, it is important to recognise what exactly hypoglycaemia is and what the symptoms that the patient experiences can be. In more advanced cases, patients may lose consciousness, suffer from fits or seizures, can develop weakness of their arms or legs (like a stroke) and may go into a deep coma. Below are some steps that you or a family member can take to bring the blood glucose levels up immediately.
Most patients experience a combination of symptoms that we have mentioned above, and will be able to take the required treatment immediately. In such cases, family members may find it difficult to wake patients up from their sleep in the morning. They can be a danger to themselves and to the people around them as their response time and brain function is not 100%.

It is also important to keep in mind the fruits that are very high in sugar so that they can be avoided. Also keep in mind that not all low sugar fruits are correspondingly low in carbohydrates; searching online can bring up detailed nutritional information for different types of fruit. It’s also a good idea to engage in simple physical activities like walking or gardening. Hypoglycaemia requires urgent treatment as low blood sugar levels can have an impact on the functioning of the brain and other vital organ systems. It is maintained at this level by the food that we eat at meal times and by the secretion of insulin from the pancreas into the bloodstream. Low blood glucose levels can also affect the heart and can cause irregular heartbeats and damage to the heart muscle from a heart attack. Strengthening exercises can also help, as these build muscles around the joints to ease the pressure and pain. In patients with diabetes, missing a meal can result in the blood sugar levels dropping remarkably low. When eaten as part of an overall healthy diet that contains plenty of vegetables, whole grains, and lean proteins, as well as an adequate amount of water and low amounts of processed, sugary foods, fruit can be a great snack and a very beneficial part of the diet.
