My starting point are the web articles that have been doing the rounds on social media of late, mostly drawing on, or by, Psoas expert Liz Koch.
Liz Koch celebrates the the Psoas as an energetic and emotional muscle with a unique status. It is also interesting to note that our Yoga Asanas for treating the Psoas have been Earth Element orientated. Even within the biomechanical model, it is worth noting that the psoas exerts an eccentric contraction, which is a confusing way of saying that the psoas doesn’t shorten. Liz Koch is being deliberately antagonistic (later she acknowledges the lower Psoas might be viewed as a hip-flexor) because she’s wants to change the common mechanistic attitude towards it, that is, if we see it as a flexor then we are going to try to stretch and strengthen it to remedy it. Tom Myers also notes that lumbar neutrality is essential in the lumbar before we begin start extending hips. A key aspect to treatment therefor is discerning if the client has a anterior or posterior tilt of the lumbar spine, is there a tilt or imbalance between right and left, and third make a decision as to which line we need to work on. If we are going to work actively on the muscle itself perhaps using a gentle pulsing technique like this one from Christopher Sovereign is best, particularly for the long middle track.
The local inside and outside line are made of softer muscle tissue, and according to Tom Myers, are better suited to manipulation than the tendinous abdominal Psoas major of the middle line.
In Dancing Shiva we need to take Gwyn’s cautions seriously: if in side position make sure you are not bringing the lumbar spine out of neutrality, get the client to hug the lower knee to chest for clients with any excessive lumbar extension, or if the client is in prone gently lock the sacrum or butt-crease with your foot before carefully extending the hip? In mice the Psoas is apparently made up primarily of fast-twitching muscles (see Psoas wiki); it is made for rapid contraction pumping inward toward the spine as the animal runs.
The maintenance schedule in the owners manual indicates the "strainer" should be cleaned at 12000 mile intervals at the same time the fuel filter is replaced. In the instructions in the service manual for replacing the fuel filter it states "Whenever the fuel filter is being replaced, the pre-filter in the fuel heater assembly should be removed and cleaned". It consists of a strainer screen, gasket for the sediment bulb and a small pressed steel nut. Before I started working on it, I sprayed the whole area around it with using the Spray Can version of GUNK engine cleaner, and then stuck a hose nozzle in there and blasted it clean.
If you loosen it from below, be ready for fuel in the face - it "will" drip all over you and if you spill it you will be doused with half a cup of Diesel fuel. The second is a 24mm box wrench or socket to remove the pressed sheet metal nut that holds the strainer in place (inside the sump). When I replaced the thing I pre filled it with clean fuel to minimize the number of strokes that would be required on the hand priming pump.
Posted to the TDR Forum by Mikepvg: While the strainer assembly is removed, check the Fuel Heater Element quad O-ring gasket on top of the heater element for signs of deterioration. Contact with latex items, such as latex gloves, may cause rashes in those with a latex allergy. A skin rash from an allergic reaction is usually localized to the spot where the allergen made contact.
A rash appearing anywhere on the skin is the body’s way of telling us that something is wrong. For the past four months, I've been getting a rash that can be like all bumps or welts -- anywhere there has been pressure on skin. When my son eats, the area around his eyes will turn red like a rash and then the rash will go away. My boyfriend keeps getting a rash on his fingers and hand, but we can't figure out what it is. If you get bumps when you're hot you may have Cholinergic urticaria which are red splotches with bumps in the middle and they itch like crazy.
Don't forget about heat rash - I used to get that when I was a kid on really hot days and my mom would have to wipe my arms and legs with rubbing alcohol to cool me down.
It would be valuable indeed if divine providence blessed us with the gift to ‘see ourselves as others see us’ as Robert Burns mused in his famous poem ‘To A Louse’, but although we’ll never achieve this sort of omniscience, it’s still fun to sift through some of the most common stereotypes about Britain and the British and consider which have any basis in fact. Naturally, it’s impossible to generalise over the beliefs, habits and attitudes of each and every Briton, and as a modern multicultural nation we also celebrate unity in diversity. So here follow five stereotypes about Britain which are false and five which have some basis of truth. Since Britain has a population of over 63 million this is not the case, but some unlikely Britons in line for the throne include Catherine Laing; a West Country travel agent’s wife and Chloe Felton, a farmer’s daughter from Devon. Although Britain receives its fair share of rain, in 2009 the UK received less annual rainfall than Norway, Switzerland, Japan or New Zealand.
Whilst some ales are still served warm, the popularity of continental lagers means that most beers served in the UK are now served cold.
This is untrue as there are hundreds of distinctive regional accents across the UK and Standard English is itself a synthetic language amalgamated from elements of regional languages.
There seems to be no factual basis for this stereotype, dental hygiene in the UK compares well to that of any other developed nation. Each Brit consumes 1.89 KG of tea per year according to 2009 figures and are ranked 6th in a list which is topped by the United Arab Emirates, followed by Ireland and Mauritania. Although no-one in their right mind loves to queue anywhere, many British people will state that they would prefer forming an orderly queue than the type of ‘free for all’ policy they may have seen adopted in other countries (although this in itself might be yet another stereotype!) However, the record for longest toilet queue is actually held by the Belgians and occurred when 756 people waited in line to use a latrine as part of UNICEF World Water Day activities!

Business groups are constantly complaining about the reams of Governmental red tape, rules and regulations and (in their view) the effect it has on jobs being lost as businesses move abroad to avoid bureaucracy. Although traditional class boundaries have become more blurred over the years, most Britons do tend to identify with one of the 3 main classes for better or for worse and although some claim that social mobility is greater now than it was for previous generations, evidence suggests that Britain unfortunately remains divided along class lines. This is definitely true as Royal Weddings and Jubilees are lavish occasions which millions of Britons love to celebrate by waving Union Jacks, organising street parties and donning fantastic Great British fancy dress costumes!

Mike: Agreed, but wouldn’t an attractive person find an equally attractive person average? Mike: Neanderthals need love too, I guess, but I joking aside I think the right side faces are average looking. I have known that it is the long, strong,  muscle that connects the upper and lower parts of the body.
This intersection is just behind the kidneys, adrenals and solar plexus and just in front of the thoracolumbar junction (TLJ); the meeting of lumbar and thoracic vertebra. Ones first thought is that it is deeply connected to the Kidney Meridian, and when Tom Myers talks about the connection between assimilation and elimination we are talking Metal Element. Briony comments that it would be very interesting to try treating the opening and closing points on the Chong and Belt vessels for Psoas related back problems. We thus often recommend Warrior series for extending the the Psoas (see detail on this below). Rather it falls back along the spine while lifting the legs, bringing knee to chest, curling the spine, or bending at the hips.
He observes, however, that we can work the Psoas directly, we just need to understand its complexity as a both a hip flexor and extensor. A useful test here is to move between straight legged hip extension (like Warrior 1 on the ball of the foot) to feel into the outer set of locals, and a medially rotated hip extension (think Warrior 2 with the back foot at 45 degrees) to give awareness to the inner set of locals. For the inside line try having the client in supine with a knee bent as Tom Myers suggests or work the upper adductors from side position. We need to work purposefully here, bring our intention to the outside or inside line of the psoas with a gentle rotation of the hip joint. As Tom Myers observes in quadrupeds the Psoas takes a comfortable route clear of the pelvis but in humans it has had to take a radical journey around the front of the pelvis, and perhaps we could say its function has differentiated, with more of a static balance and connective purpose. They now exist in Germany’s IKEA outlets as rectangular astro-turf lawns set aside for dog owners to park their dogs while they shop. We're after a Commercial Manager and Commercial Executive to join our awesome Sydney-based team working across our websites Lost At E Minor, Techly, and The Roar. Some people report that a long extension with a u-joint allows you to stay out of the fuel flow when the nut is loosened.
It isn't much more than finger tight, but if you aren't bionic and need a wrench - 24mm is the size. The pre filling also allowed me to lubricate the new gasket with some diesel fuel before installing it. After you remove the pre-filter bowl, you have access to the allen screw that will allow the heater element to be removed.
I have worked for the TSA for five years and never had a problem with the blue latex gloves.
I am getting red, small, itchy dots on my arms, legs and on my stomach only in the evenings.I went to a general physician, he gave me some antihistamines and a lotion to apply. Due to the severe pain, I had to double up and it started causing me similar itching problems, so I compensated by taking double doses of Benadryl. However, one thing Britons have in vast reserve is eccentricity, as evidenced by their love of British themed fancy dress and their perpetual ability to combine a stiff upper lip with surreal and self-effacing humour.
In fact, there are only around 20 people in the UK who bear the title ‘Your Highness’ or ‘Your Majesty’ and around a further 70 who can claim to be members of the extended Royal Family or Royal Household; so it’s a reasonably exclusive club! It’s true that sodden citizens of Glasgow can expect around 48 inches of rain a year but this is only half the amount that the good people of Bergen, Norway can look forward to! In fact, British lagers such as Carling and Tennents are marketed as best served cold and even Guinness stout has an ‘extra cold’ version due to popular demand! However, some British cultural icons do have very ‘unusual’ teeth; such as Rab C Nesbitt and Ken Dodd.
Of course, tea is the 2nd most popular drink in the world next to water, so Britons are not alone in their collective love for a cuppa! Britain is unarguably one of the most rule-bound nations on Earth but it is debatable whether these regulations protect our freedoms or infringe them.

Given its attachment to the top of the leg, specifically the femur at the lessor trochanter, I have thought it most likely plays a role as a hip-flexor (raising legs) and, in a lessor way, assisting the adduction of the femur (moving upper leg inward). Not only is this solar plexus area the locale of gut reaction but it is thus the interface of the upper and lower body, establishing an essential relationship between breathing and walking, assimilation and elimination (see Tom Myers, Anatomy Trains pg 190-194). While this may be true, Dan Stretton notes that Psoas is an emergence of Chong Extraordinary Vessel, and this is consistent with Liz Koch’s take that the Psoas comes from the central embryonic streak (equivalent to the Chong).

Opening points for the Chong are Spl4 and closing Peri6 and the Belt opening point GB41 and closing point TH5. The Chong opens with an Earth Point and is all about our connection to Source Ki, Mother Earth. Liz Koch sees the Psoas therapy as a personal journey for its owner to undertake, and is not keen on manual manipulation of the Psoas complex. The first express or middle line of the Psoas Major is well known: from the bodies and transverse processes of first lumbar and sometimes the 12th thoracic vertebrae and onto the lessor trochanter of the femur.
I found this counterintuitive at first (medial rotation is accessing lateral line) but started to make sense as I practiced it. We need treat carefully, emotional and energetically, use tonification and active resting techniques, and try the distal release points on the Extraordinary Chong and Belt Vessels. Having used this technique a few times in last week I am yet to traumatise a wary and weary Psoas.
For the outside line Kaline’s side position may be fine for some clients, supine with legs bent is better for others.
The study cited in wiki also found that in us bipeds the Psoas comprises a mixed balance of fast and slow twitch muscle fibers. So it seems that this "screen" in the service manual is one and the same as the "strainer" in the maintenance schedule. I also installed the new strainer - they come together in a kit with strainer, gasket, and nut. I stood on a little rubbermaid stool to give me better access and was able to get it into position and the threads started with out spilling more than a couple of drops. NOTE: This screw appears in the service manual diagrams, but no mention of it is made in the instructions. We know that it is often implicated in chronic lower-back-pain, and releasing the psoas is something of a Holy Grail in advanced bodywork. The Psoas indeed runs alongside the Chong into GV4, where the Belt Vessel joins the back and front of the body from GV4 to CV6. Usually only one side is treated, test opening points to see which side softens pulse, same with closing points and then hold the two points, touching opening first and then closing, holding lightly for a few seconds.
The lunges in Warrior series we have thought useful to alleviating the shortening of the Psoas by prolonged sitting, but if we think in terms of the Chong, then strong standing poses and walking on the earth is as much an energetic as physical treatment.
Its worth noting that in a Tom Myers Structural Integration, the therapist will not address the Psoas until well into series of treatments, releasing superficial fascial lines before the Psoas, and the rest of the Deep Front Line. In light of what has been theorised from Anatomy Trains, ie the three different fascial lines of the Psoas complex, it would be really interesting to know if the ratio of slow to fast twitch muscles is higher in the middle line and lower in the shorter outside lines.
I thought it might drip and Nedra doesn't like oily stuff on the driveway so I put my oil change pan - a huge diameter 4 gallon one under the pre screener location.
I ran it up finger tight and then using the 17mm box end I tightened it snug but did not get into a contest of wills with it - it was not all that tight when I took it off and it is a rubber gasket - so I used that as a gage for how tight to make it when I put it back. I have recently quit smoking after four years, and I've noticed it's not related, because I got rashes off and on before I quit.
The next morning, I am totally rash free, but again in the evening, these red dots come back again and I have redness on the skin of my hands. The Psoas is no ordinary muscle so its no surprise that’s its on an extraordinary vessel. The pendulum movement of the psoas when walking is a bit like a metronome, keeping our rhythm on Earth? The third track, lateral set of locals or simply outside line starts with the attachments of the quadratus lumborum to the 12th rib and lumbar veterbrae attaching to iliac fossa of the hip and continuing onto the iliacus and attaching, once again, at the well populated lessor tranchanter. Highly recommended because a few ounces of fuel will drain out when the strainer sump is removed.
The pre-filter screen kit has the quad ring for the BOTTOM of the heater element & is a different size than the top one. Only now I feel like crap.I have a panic disorder, am disabled and stressed, but this is a first for me. You can learn how to do this accurately with Greg Williams of Qi Art Therapies in Brisbane. Stretching or extending the Psoas is controversial so I want to return to the question of treatment when we have looked more closely at the Psoas physiology. One member posted that replacing replaced BOTH quad rings reduced the amt of blue smoke on start up & WOT substantially.
In a sense the Psoas is a healer in itself and perhaps we need to see it as a partner in rather than a subject of therapy.
I probably won't look into it again other than as part of trouble shooting should there be a problem until it gets to 200K. As the pictures I took show, my usual fuel dealer has clean fuel - there was not much in there.
