In today’s experiment, you and seven other people will interact for three rounds. Each round consists of 10 periods: a bidding period and 9 trading periods.
In the bidding period, you will have the opportunity to purchase assets. In the trading period, you have the opportunity to buy assets from others and sells assets (if you own any). Each round has different sets of assets, but all rounds have a total of sixteen assets.
All assets affect the final round earnings of the holder in two ways: each period adds or subtracts an amount from earnings and there is a redemption value paid to holder of each asset after the final period. However, changes to the asset do not impact the amount available to spend in the trading period. Before each round, we will inform you of the type of assets, i.e. how much they can increase or decrease a player’s earnings in the period and the likelihood of them increasing or decreasing.
At the end of the experiment, you will randomly be paid for one of the three rounds, not all of them. Once the experiment ends, you will also have the opportunity to earn more money by answering a few survey questions.
