Note that it is not possible to find out with who your groupmembers are, also bare in mind that communication is not allowed.
The collective task consists a decision game that has multiple rounds in which points can be collected.
Each groupmember gets an endowment 10 points in each round.
Within each round you decide whether you want to keep your 10 points, or whether you want to invest your 10 points in a collective pot.
The other 4 members in your group face the same decision.
When you decide to keep your 10 points you actually get to keep them.
When you decide to invest your 10 points in the collective pot, you lose them.
If enough members of your group invest their 10 points in the collective pot, a collective benefit is produced.
In this case, every group member gets from that pot an extra 15 points.
If you invested, your end up with 15 points in that round (you lost the 10 points by investing them, but gained 15).
If you did not invest, but enough other players did, you end up with 25 points (you kept 10 and received 15 from the collective benefit).
The collective task is repeated several times(rounds), and over the rounds you can accumulate your points.
Each member of the group, including you, has a so-called personal 'share'.
Your share reflects the direct impact of your investment in the collective pot.
By investing your points into the collective pot, you make an 'effort' in developing the collective benefit.
Eventhough the costs of investment are similar for all groupmembers, the impact of investment could be different.
So, you have to think about the direct impact you could have, and the impact that your groupmembers could have.
In addition, you have to think about impact you could have together.
In all cases, the shares of all the group members sum to
100.
The collective benefit is produced when the
sum of the shares of members that invested are equal to or larger than
51.
For example, lets say in a group two members invest their points and each have a personal share of 30,
their combination of shares is 60. 60 is larger than 51, therefore the collective benefit is produced and all five group members get 15 points from that pot.
In this collective task your share is
{{ player.share }} and remains the same until the task is completed.
The shares of other players also remain the same until the task is completed.
{% if show_info == 'homogeneous' %}
In your group the distribution of shares, including yours is as follows: each and every groupmember has a share of 20, which sums up to 100.
{% endif %}
{% if show_info == 'heterogeneous' %}
In your group the distribution of shares, including yours is as follows: 1, 9, 20, 20, 50, which sums up to 100
{% endif %}
After each decision you and the other group members are told whether the collective pot is produced, the sum of shares of players that invested,
and what your gains are for that round.
At the end of task we present the total amount of points that you accumulated over all rounds.
