Johhny Depp has been heard by the court yelling at ex-wife Amber Heard in audio recordings where he says there is no point meeting again, as it would be a 'bloodbath'

Johnny Depp said there would have been no point meeting with ex-wife Amber Heard again as the situation would become a 'bloodbath'.

The 58-year-old actor is being cross-examined by Amber's legal team in the $50million libel trial in which he is suing for defamation, while she is countersuing for $100million for defamation.

The libel case follows an opinion piece that Amber, 35, wrote for the Washington Post in which she said she was a victim of domestic abuse.

Johnny has claimed that the piece was written about him, though he is not mentioned directly in the article.

Johnny was today asked by Amber's lawyers whether he agrees that abuse can come in many forms, including physical, verbal, emotional and psychological.

Depp agreed that this is the case and told the court: 'Sometimes they can flow into one another'.

The court was played an audio recording of the couple arguing. They had been in the habit of recording their conversations for couples therapy.

In the recording, Amber was heard criticising someone 'putting a cigarette out' on someone else, before Johnny replies to her: 'Shut up, fat a**e'.

In another clip played in court, Johnny spoke about the end of his relationship with Amber.

He said: 'Walking away is necessary... Otherwise it's just going to be a bloodbath... Like it was on the island... It's just not worth it.'

The reference to the 'island' is about the alleged argument he had with Amber while detoxing on a private island in the Bahamas during August 2014.

The court heard Amber reply: 'No one in their right mind is going to chose bloodbath over walking away.'

She also said that it's not a 'discernible choice'.

The actress was also heard saying: 'I'm not asking you to have a bloodbath over walking away, I'm asking you to work it out over prolonging it and making it bigger.'

The court was then played more audio recordings, of which Johnny has previously said that while most of the conversations were recorded with both of their consent, there were some he claimed that Amber recorded without his knowledge.

In a clip, Amber is heard seemingly comparing her relationship with Johnny with former relationships she has had, to which Johnny shouts at her: 'Because you're a f****** c***.'

Another clip is played in which the couple has yelling angrily at each other before Johnny shouts at the top of his voice: 'This is not helping, you stupid f***.'

The court was then played a clip in which Amber says 'get off me' as she continues to argue and shout with Johnny, as he sounds like he is trying to leave, saying over again: 'I'll talk to you later, I'll talk to you later.'
