During the second week, Johnny addressed dark texts about Amber he had sent to his friend, how his drug and alcohol use has been 'grossly embellished' and their infamous row in Australia

Week two of Johnny Depp's $100million lawsuit against his ex-wife Amber Heard concluded on Thursday, after the actor took to the stand to testify about volatile moments during the course of their marriage.

The Pirates of the Caribbean star, 58, is suing the actress, 35, for libel over a 2018 article she wrote in The Washington Post, which his lawyers say falsely implies he physically and sexually abused her and damaged his career and reputation.

During the second week, Johnny addressed dark texts about Amber he had sent to his friend, how his drug and alcohol use has been 'grossly embellished' and their infamous row in Australia.

The actress is yet to respond to his latest allegations in the trial, which is set to last for seven weeks at Fairfax County Court.

Here we look back at some of the biggest bombshell claims so far:

Violent episodes

The second week of Johnny's defamation lawsuit concluded with members of the jury being shown video and audio of the actor's allegedly violent episodes.

Johnny was seen to be slamming kitchen cabinets closed and pouring himself a large glass of wine in one clip before appearing to become irate at being filmed by Ms Heard.

The actor, wearing a feathered hat and dark sunglasses, also appears to hurt himself as he swears and kicks out at pieces of furniture.

Johnny, who denies physically abusing Amber, on Thursday admitted he had “assaulted a couple of cabinets”.

In another audio recording, Amber can be heard repeatedly saying 'please don’t hurt yourself' as Johnny threatened to cut himself with a knife.

The jury heard audio recordings of a fight where Amber admitted to hitting Johnny on Wednesday.

It was the first time the trial had heard the actress's voice - with Amber due to testify later in the case.

The court heard Amber tell him in the recording: 'I didn't punch you. I'm sorry I didn't hit you across the face in a proper slap. I was hitting you, it was not punching you.'

To which he replied: ''Don't tell what it feels like to be punched.'

Amber said in response: You didn't get punched. You got hit. I'm sorry I hit you like this, I didn't punch you. I did not f***ing deck you. I f***ing was hitting you. I don't know what the motion of my actual hand was.

'You're fine. I did not hurt you, I did not punch you, I was hitting you. I'm not sitting here bit**ing about.'

Amber is heard continuing to shout: 'Grow the f**k up Johnny', and when Johnny said it was a physical fight, she said in the recording: 'I did start a physical fight'.

Johnny's dark texts about his ex-wife Amber were read out in court on Thursday.

The actor was cross examined by Amber's lawyer, Benjamin Rottenborn, with Fairfax County Court shown a series of graphic and violent text messages in which Johnny had discussed 'burning' and 'drowning' the actress, 35, with his friend, actor Paul Bettany.

He read aloud: 'Let's burn Amber!!!', before asking the Pirates of the Caribbean star: 'You see that?'

After Johnny responded: 'I do see that', Amber's lawyer continued: 'You didn't stop. The next text down says: ''Let's drown her before we burn her!!!' I read that right?'

On Tuesday, Johnny told the jury he was 'ashamed of some of the references made'.

He said: 'I’m embarrassed that at the time the heat of the moment, the heat of the pain that I was feeling went to dark places. Pain has to be dealt with humour, something dark, very dark humour.'

Johnny claims Amber would threaten suicide after explosive fights

The Hollywood actor also claimed in his testimony on Wednesday, Amber would threaten suicide after their explosive fights.

He told the court: 'Ms. Heard had spoken of suicide on a couple of occasions, so that also becomes a factor.

'That’s always something that lives in the back of your brain and that you fear.'

Johnny claimed when we would try to leave Amber, she told him she would 'die' without him.

'Many times when I would try to leave, she would stop me at the elevator with the security guards, crying, screaming, you know, 'I can’t live without you. I’m gonna die'. But you had to get out,' he said.

Amber cut a sombre figure as she sat in court and has yet to respond to the latest allegations.

The actor said he had felt 'ill' when the accusations had first surfaced and that no matter the outcome of the trial, he had would live with them for the rest of his life.

Johnny said he had read the article and 'did not disagree' with parts of it, but it was 'clearly about me' and called it a 'hell of a story'.

He said: 'When the allegations were made [and] rapidly circulating the globe, telling people that I was a drunken, cocaine-fueled menace who beat women suddenly in my 50s… no matter the outcome of this trial, the second the allegations were made against me [and] turned into fodder for the media… I lost then'

'I lost because that is not a thing that anyone is [going to] put on your back for a short period of time. I will live with that for the rest of my life.'

On Wednesday, Johnny spoke of the moment 'human faecal matter' was found on the sheets of his bed.

The Pirates of the Caribbean star said it happened after Amber had argued with him over his late arrival to her 30th birthday.

Johnny told the court: 'On my side of the bed was human faecal matter.

'I laughed. It was so outside. It was so bizarre and so grotesque that I could only laugh.”

Heard has previously denied it, blaming the mess on her teacup Yorkshire terriers.

Amber's lawyer Elaine Bredehoft made the claim Johnny 'penetrated Amber with an alcohol bottle' during a 'hostage situation' in Australia across three days in 2015 on Tuesday.

She told the jury: 'He has her jammed up against the bar. He has hurled bottles and bottles at her. He has dragged her across the floor on the broken bottles.

'He has punched her. He has kicked her. He has told her he's going to fu**ing kill her, and he fu**ing hates her. He's pounding at her, pounding at her. And then, he penetrates her with a liquor bottle.'

As she spoke, the Pirates of the Caribbean actor reportedly shook his head as if he was disagreeing with the claims made.

Depp's spokesperson has vehemently denied the claims.

Severed finger

Johnny also told the court about the infamous argument he had with Amber during the trip to Australia in 2015, when the actor was filming the fifth instalment of Pirates of the Caribbean.

Amber had previously claimed Depp had been abusive to her during this trip and had described the time Down Under as a 'three-day hostage situation'.

Johnny said he went to the bar took a bottle of vodka and poured two or three 'stiff' shots and claimed when Amber found him at the bar, she 'of course started screaming... 'the monster', and all that'.

He told the court Amber took the bottle and 'hurled' it at him and it smashed behind his head.

After he took another, bigger bottle of vodka and poured another shot, Depp told the court Amber was 'flinging insults' before grabbing the second bottle and threw that at him.

He said the bottle shattered and the shards of glass hit his finger and when he looked down, saw the tip of his finger had been severed.

Depp said: 'I was looking directly at my bone... sticking out... blood was pouring out.'

Johnny discusses drug and alcohol use

Johnny said his consumption of drugs and alcohol over the years has never been 'for a party' but rather to numb himself from 'the ghosts from my youth'.

The actor said his 'substance abuse' had been 'grossly embellished' by Amber and many of her allegations were 'plainly false'.

Much of the evidence heard so far at the US trial, taking place in Virginia, has made reference to his use of substances while the two were together, which Amber’s lawyers said have triggered violent episodes.

Giving evidence on Tuesday, Mr Depp said his drug-taking had started at the age of 11, when he took his mother’s nerve pills “to escape feeling so much”.

'(It’s) a pretty young age to do that, I can’t say that I’m proud of admitting to that but I have to say that I knew not what else to do,” he said.

'I’ve never used (the word) party in my life, I’ve never taken any substance for a party.

'I have taken these substances over the years, on and off, to numb myself of the ghosts, the wraiths that were still with me from my youth.'

Johnny said he used drugs as 'self medication' and that he is 'not some maniac that needs to be high or loaded all the time'.

The trial continues.
