Former couple Amber Heard and Johnny Depp, who tied the knot in February 2015, lived in the Hollywood actor's downtown LA penthouses

Johnny Depp and Amber Heard have made endless headlines 2022 thanks to the very public defamation case against the actor’s ex-wife.

The 58-year-old is suing his ex-wife for $50million (£39m) over an op-ed she wrote for the Washington Post in 2018 where she alleged that she was a survivor of domestic violence.

The Hollywood actor's security guard has alleged that Heard ‘punched’ the Pirates of the Caribbean actor in the face as he took to the stand in the former couple’s defamation trial.

Appearing via video link in the Fairfax Virginia Courthouse from LA last month, security guard Travis McGivern told the jury that Heard once punched her ex-husband in the face while at their shared LA penthouse.

During the Pirates of the Caribbean star’s testimony, the court was shown floorplans of the former couple's Los Angeles penthouses where they lived when they were still married.

The former couple, who tied the knot in February 2015, lived in Depp’s downtown LA penthouses.

Depp owned five separate penthouses on the top floor of the building between 2013 and 2016.

The star allowed his good friend, Isaac Baruch, to stay in one house and use another as an art studio while he and Heard lived in the penthouse next door and shared an adjoining balcony.

Meanwhile, Heard’s sister, Whitney, lived in another penthouse and friends of the couple occupied the other one.

Depp and Heard's penthouse boasted a rooftop pool and offered stunning views of the city, according to The Independent.

Much of the indoor decor reflected Depp’s personal taste with colourfully decorated bohemian-themed bedrooms and Art Deco bathrooms.

While Depp and Heard were living in their LA penthouse, the actor's security guard alleged a row took place on March 23, 2015.

He testified that he ‘heard and saw a closed fist contact Mr Depp in the left side of his face’, noting that it was Heard’s fist.

'The initial look on his face kind of mirrored mine, kind of a look of shock,' he claimed.

'My job is to ensure the safety and wellbeing of my clients, and I felt like I hadn’t done that.'

During that same argument at their LA penthouse, McGivern alleged that he saw Heard throw a can of Red Bull which struck Depp in the back.

'The verbal onslaught continued, from both of them,' he told.

He went on to tell the court that Depp was ‘giving as good as he got’.

Speaking to the court, he recalled their argument included ‘lots of name-calling and F bombs’.

Depp's security guard said that Heard would refer to Depp as a 'f**king deadbeat dad’, f**king washed up’ and a ‘f**king c***, which Depp called her as well'.

'You name it, she’s spewed it,' he said. 'The F-word is my favorite word and it was being thrown around to the point where I was uncomfortable.'
