Johnny Depp trial: Isaac Baruch says 'it's not fair what she did'

Disturbing new details of the volatile relationship between Pirates of the Caribbean star Johnny and Aquaman actress Amber have emerged as the former is now suing the latter in a defamation case

Johnny Depp’s defamation trial against ex-wife Amber Heard continues and more disturbing details of their fraught marriage have emerged.

The Pirates of the Caribbean star, 58, has taken 35-year-old Ms Heard to court in a defamation trial after he claimed she defamed him in an opinion piece that she wrote for the Washington Post in 2018.

Despite Ms Heard not naming Mr Depp in her piece, he took objection to it – with the title of the Aquaman actress’s article being: “I spoke up against sexual violence — and faced our culture’s wrath. That has to change.”

Mr Depp’s legal team are arguing that the article implies that the American star is a domestic abuser and he is suing for compensation in the region of $50 million (£38 million).

With the trial beginning with jury selection at the beginning of this week, the case is now up and running – with fresh, alarming details emerging from the court in Fairfax, Virginia.

On Wednesday, Mr Depp’s childhood friend, Isaac Baruch, took the stand and was asked about comments the actor allegedly made in the past.

Ms Heard’s lawyer, Elaine Bredehoft, asked Mr Caruch if he recalled a conversation he had with Johnny in October 2016.

Ms Bredehoft asked: “Do you recall Mr Depp ever telling you that he, in base terms, hoped that Amber's rotting corpse is decomposing in the f**king trunk of a Honda Civic?”

Looking at documents provided to him, Mr Baruch replied: “I'm seeing it here, so obviously, yeah it was said. It was written.”

The jury then heard that texts were sent between the two friends a few weeks before Mr Baruch had to move out of the Los Angeles penthouse where Mr Depp was letting him live rent-free.

Ms Bredehoft asked: “Do you recall Mr Depp calling Amber Heard a c*** and saying it was her fault?”

He responded: “It's written there, I see that.”

Ms Baurch read a part of a message from Mr Depp which said: “That c*** ruined such a f**king cool life we had for a while.”

The trial continues.

Mr Depp and Ms Heard’s relationship first began back in 2012 after they met on the set of the 2011 film The Rum Diary.

They married in 2015 at a beachfront ceremony on the private Bahamas island Little Hall’s Pond Cay – owned by Mr Depp.

The ceremony was a private affair with only a few family and friends joining the paid on their big day – with a couple of dozen guests in attendance.

The marriage collapsed in 2016, however, with Ms Heard filing for divorce and being granted a temporary restraining order against him.

The divorce was finalised in 2017 – however explosive claims about their seemingly volatile marriage have emerged ever since.

In 2018, Mr Depp launched legal proceedings against News Group Newspapers after a columnist in The Sun branded him a “wife beater”.

Mr Depp lost the case – but with Ms Heard called in as a key witness to that case, a string of shocking claims and accusations were made of both parties. Get in touch with us at webcelebs@mirror.co.uk or call us direct at 0207 29 33033.
