Players were assigned to three-player groups and performed a task to earn points (1 point = £0.01). In each group, one randomly selected player could earn more points than the other two.
After the task, players reported their points. Those who fell below a certain threshold were eligible to receive additional points from a Common Fund for their group.
Some players who were above the threshold reported having less to appear eligible
for additional points, which reduced the shares received by the other group players.
Below you see an example, where players below the threshold are shown in green.
The panel on the left shows what happens if all three players report their points truthfully. The panel on the right shows what happens if the blue player falsely reports their points below the threshold.
