Name of Study: Study on Personality and Friendships

We appreciate your interest in participating in this study. Please read through these terms before agreeing to participate by ticking the ‘yes’ box below. You may ask any questions before taking part by contacting the researcher (details below). This study aims to examine how people with distinct personalities become friends. This study is conducted by researchers from the Department of Experimental Psychology at the University of Oxford.

In this study, your personality type will be assessed, you will interact with someone online, and we will ask you few questions.

Terms

Do I have to take part?

Please note that your participation is voluntary. You may withdraw at any point during the task for any reason, before submitting your answers, by closing the browser. However, we are only able to reimburse participants who complete all tasks.

How will your data be used?

Your answers will be completely anonymous, and we will use all reasonable endeavours to keep them confidential. Your data will be stored in a password-protected file and may be used in academic publications. Your IP address are automatically accessed but will be deleted immediately after they are collected.

Who will have access to your data?

The University of Oxford is the data controller with respect to your personal data, and as such will determine how your personal data is used in the study. The University will process your personal data for the purpose of the research outlined above. Research is a task that we perform in the public interest. Further information about your rights with respect to your personal data is available from http://www.admin.ox.ac.uk/councilsec/compliance/gdpr/individualrights/.

We would like your permission to use your anonymised data in future studies, and to share data with other researchers (e.g. in online databases). Any personal information that could identify you will be removed or changed before files are shared with other researchers or results are made public.

Responsible members of the University of Oxford and funders may be given access to data for monitoring and/or audit of the study to ensure we are complying with guidelines, or as otherwise required by law.

The researchers working on this project are Dr. Olivia Spiegler and Dr. Tibor Zingora, who are attached to the Department of Experimental Psychology at the University of Oxford.
