Name of Study: Study on Personality and Friendships
General Information
Dear participant,
This is a study of whether and how people with distinct personalities become friends. We will assess your personality type and ask you to interact with someone online who might have the same or a different personality. You will than report on your experiences with the interaction partner.
Below are three time-slots when you can enter the study. During this time, you will be allocated an interaction partner. Access to the study will not be possible at different times since there will not be any available interaction partners. Please, enter the study when you have privacy as the interaction with other participants requires full attention.
Available time slots: 10am-11am 5pm-6pm 8pm-9pm
The study takes approximately 15 minutes.

Do I have to take part?
Please note that your participation is voluntary. You may withdraw at any point during the questionnaire for any reason, before submitting your answers, by closing the browser. However, we are only able to reimburse participants who complete the full survey.
How will your data be used?
Your answers will be completely anonymous, and we will use all reasonable endeavours to keep them confidential. Your data will be stored in a password-protected file and may be used in academic publications. Your IP address will not be stored. Research data will be stored for a minimum of ten years after publication or public release.
Who will have access to your data?
The University of Oxford is the data controller with respect to your personal data, and as such will determine how your personal data is used in the study. The University will process your personal data for the purpose of the research outlined above. Research is a task that we perform in the public interest. We would like your permission to use your anonymised data in future studies, and to share data with other researchers (e.g. in online databases). Any personal information that could identify you will be removed or changed before files are shared with other researchers or results are made public.
Responsible members of the University of Oxford and funders may be given access to data for monitoring and/or audit of the study to ensure we are complying with guidelines, or as otherwise required by law.
This questionnaire is for an Honours project. The principal researcher is Prof. Dr. Miles Hewstone, who is attached to the Department of Experimental Psychology at the University of Oxford. This project is being completed under the supervision of Prof. Dr. Miles Hewstone.

Please note that you may only participate in this survey if you are 18 years of age or over.
