You have been invited to take part in a research study in decision making.
Study Title: Social Interaction Study
Conducted by Dr. Raymundo Báez-Mendoza, German Primate Center, Department of Neurobiology. The experiments were approved by the Ethics Committee of the Georg-Elias-Müller Institute of Psychology of the University of Göttingen.
Study Purpose. You are invited to participate in a study that examines how we make decisions in a social context. In this experiment, you will play games with others online, and you can earn additional money based on the decisions you make.
Foreseeable risks or discomforts. The risks and discomforts associated with this study are minimal.
Benefits. While there are no associated individual benefits to your participation, you are contributing to our understanding of human decision-making.
Confidentiality. Funding agencies and publishers often ask researchers to make their research data accessible to other researchers upon completion of the study. Making research data available allows qualified researchers to reproduce scientific findings and stimulates exploration of existing data sets. In line with these requirements, we will preserve the data for future reuse. To ensure confidentiality, shared data will be stripped of information that could identify you, and no identity information will be published.
Future use of your choices. Your game choices may be used in one or more future experiments. A response may be paired more than once with responses made by different future participants. The choice data used for these pairings will contain no personal identifying information. Future participants will not receive your name, Prolific ID, contact details, or any other personal information. They cannot identify or trace you from the choices with which they are paired.
Compensation. You will receive the participation payment stated on Prolific. You may also receive an additional bonus based on your decisions, as described in the task instructions.
Voluntary Participation. Your participation in this study is voluntary. You may withdraw and exit the study at any time without penalty. If you choose to withdraw, your data will be deleted from the server and no copy will be saved.
Contact Information. If you have any questions or comments about this research, you may contact Dr. Raymundo Báez-Mendoza at baezmendozalab@gmail.com.
