During the course of this study, you will be asked what is your minimum acceptable payoff to get different items. On this page, you will learn how to go through this process, with illustrations. It is important you understand these instructions, so please take your time.
For example, if the computer randomly selects +30: the offer is "item 1 & +30 points". This offer is larger than the participant's minimum acceptable payoff. The offer is accepted. Participant gets item 1 and gets 30 points.
Another example, if the computer randomly selects -30: the offer is "item 1 & -30 points". This offer is larger than the participant's minimum acceptable payoff. The offer is accepted. Participant gets item 1 and loses 30 points.
Illustration 2: "For item 2, participant chooses +50"
For example, if the computer randomly selects -30: the offer is "item 2 & -30 points". This offer is lower than the participant's minimum acceptable payoff. The offer is refused. Participant does not get item 2 and does not get a payoff.
Another example, if the computer randomly selects +30: the offer is "item 2 & +30 points". This offer is lower than the participant's minimum acceptable payoff. The offer is refused.
