There are a total of {{ num_other_players }} other participants in the karma interaction.

The karma interaction proceeds over rounds. Initially, every participant gets {{ Constants.INITIAL_KARMA }} karma points. Then, in every round, you get matched with one random opponent to compete over prioritized access to the shared resource.

Each one of you must place a sealed karma bid, and priority is given to whoever places the highest bid. {% if treatment <= 2 %} You cannot bid more than the karma you have. {% else %} You can place one of only two bids: either 0 or half your karma. {% endif %} In case both of you bid the same, priority is given randomly. If you get prioritized, your score increases by your urgency, and you pay the karma you bid. If you do not get prioritized, your score does not increase, and you do not pay any karma.

Your urgency in each round is chosen randomly according to the following probabilities:

These values and probabilities are the same for all other participants.

You do not know who you match with in each round, and you also do not know their urgency and karma. You only know your own urgency and karma.

At the end of each round the total karma payment of all the participants gets evenly redistributed. Therefore, your karma for the next round will increase by your share of the redistribution and decrease by the karma you paid in the case of getting priority. The maximum allowable karma any participant can have is {{ Constants.MAX_KARMA }}.

Your goal is to maximize your score at the end of all rounds. To do so, you must think carefully about when to spend karma{% if treatment <= 2 %} and by how much,{% else %},{% endif %} and when to save karma for the future.

We will start with {{ Constants.NUM_TEST_ROUNDS }} test rounds to get familiar with the karma interaction. In each test round you will have up to {{ Constants.TIME_TEST_ROUND }} seconds to decide on your karma bid. The score of the test rounds will not count towards the final score.

Then, everyone's karma will reset to the initial amount of {{ Constants.INITIAL_KARMA }} and we will proceed with the main karma interaction. The main karma interaction will proceed over {{ rounds }} rounds. In each round you will have up to {{ Constants.TIME_ROUND }} seconds to decide on your karma bid. In case you do not place a bid in time, the system will automatically bid 0 on your behalf. If you fail to place a bid in time for a total of {{ Constants.DROPOUT_COUNT }} rounds, you will be dropped out of the experiment and receive no payment.

In total the experiment will last up to 40 minutes. You will receive a base payment of ${{Constants.BASE_PAYMENT}} for completing the experiment. In addition, you will receive a bonus payment that depends on your performance:

Good luck!
