Welcome to the karma interaction!

In many Asian traditions, karma is symbolized by the lotus flower and represents the idea that your actions today will have consequences for tomorrow.

Inspired by this, the karma interaction is a new priority scheme that is meant to provide fair access to shared resources. Here is how it works:

Beware! You do not always have the same need for the shared resource. Your urgency changes randomly every round and affects how much your score increases by. Because you will eventually run out of karma if you keep on bidding high, you must learn to spend your karma wisely!

We live in a world of finite shared resources, examples of which are abundant in our daily lives. One such example could be a priority road that is kept free of congestion to get commuters to work faster during the rush hour, similar to toll roads. In this context, the karma interaction could be thought of as a fair way to regulate access to the priority road, instead of using money which tends to favor the wealthy.
