   Finally, there is a simple rule in the experiment which is that you cannot finish the experiment with a debt. The rule is ensured to hold by the design of the experiment. Therefore, except for the last period, you may consume more than your income, however, there will always be an upper limit. The experiment warns you when you try to exceed the limit. Moreover, notice that borrowing below the upper limit may prevent you to consume more than your income in the following periods. Note also that you cannot consume negative amounts.
