The experiment consists of 30 periods. At the beginning of each period, you receive a wage income that is 100 tokens. In each period, you make a consumption decision by indicating how many tokens you want to consume. Consumed tokens convert into utility. Therefore, you should notice two things.
•First, in each period by consuming tokens, you implicitly also make a saving or borrowing decision.
•Second, borrowing in a period enables you to consume more than your current wage income in that period, while saving in a period enables you to consume more in a later period.
Moreover, your saving or borrowing in the current period will be transferred to the next period by earning interest. Hence, total income in any period equals the sum of wage income in that period and total saving or borrowing from the previous period including interest. Finally, your overall utility in the experiment is the sum of discounted utilities in each period and you will be paid depending on your overall utility.
