An uncontrolled train is heading towards 5 people on the tracks. These people will be killed if the wagon continues to run. You have the option of saving these five people by diverting the train onto other tracks on which there is only one person, but if you do that person will be killed. Is it morally permissible to divert the train and thus prevent five deaths at the cost of one life?
