Purpose:
This research project will aim to study how individual decision making may vary across different types of economic environments where subjects’ earnings depend upon their decisions and those of others in the experiment. You are invited to participate in this study because you are a UNL student.
Procedures:
The experiment will not last for more than 2 hours. If you agree to participate in the experiment, you will be do the following things during the duration of the experiment.
Benefits: Although there are no direct benefits to you, the knowledge gained from your and others’ decisions will be used by study researchers to understand individual behavior in group decision making settings.
Risks and/or Discomforts: There are no known risks associated with participation in the study.
Confidentiality: Any information obtained during this study which could identify you will be kept strictly confidential. The data will be stored in a password protected computer and locked cabinet in the investigator’s office and will only be seen by the investigator during the study. Your individual decisions will always be private to the group and the investigators. All decisions will be recorded with a subject and experiment ID that is not linked to your name or your student ID. The information obtained in this study may be published in scientific journals or presented at scientific meetings, but the data will be reported as aggregated data.
Compensation: You will be paid in an Amazon gift card for this experiment. You will receive a fee of $5 for participation. Please note that this a temporary departure from paying you in cash, as had been advertised when you signed up using the Behavioral and Experimental Economics Lab (BEEL) website.
