Once you have seen the draw of 6 balls, but before you make your choice, you will also be given the opportunity to pay for information about the value of Q, which may help you guess. To do this, you will be asked 2 questions.

First, do you want to know Q? If you choose no, then we will not show you the value of Q for sure. You can keep your 50 ECUs endowment.

Second, if you choose yes, then you will see the following list and be asked how much you are willing to pay for information about Q out of your 50 ECUs.

After you make your choice on the list, the computer will randomly draw a number between 0 and 30. If you choose yes at prices higher than or equal to the random number drawn, then you will pay a price equal to that number out of your 50 ECU endowment. For example, if you say you are willing to pay for information for prices up to 10 ECU and a random number of 6 is drawn, then you will pay 6 ECUs. We will then reveal to you the value of Q for this round. If you choose Yes at prices lower than that number, then you won’t pay anything, and we won’t tell you the value of Q.

On this list, for instance, “Pay 0 ECUs to know the value of Q” means getting Q for free; “Pay 10 ECUs to know the value of Q” means paying 10 ECUs for Q and keep 90 ECUs to yourself. Choosing Yes
