This simulation will ask you to make decisions about planting cover crops on your farm. Planting cover crops may reduce phosphorus runoff from agricultural land, helping reduce the incidence of harmful algal blooms in Lake Erie. However, you may have to incur a personal cost in order to plant cover crops on your land.

There will be five rounds of the simulation, starting with a practice to get you used to how the simulation works. After this round, there will be four rounds in which you will be asked to make cover crop planting decision. The costs and payoffs of planting cover crops may be different in each rounds, so please read the introduction to each round carefully.

To compensate you for your participation, you will receive a base payment of $50 and an additional amount up to $50. This additional amount will be 0.0008 x your your profit in one of the non-practice rounds of the simulation. (The round will be chosen at random.) For example, if Round 2 is chosen and your total profit in this round is $60,000 over all 5 years, you will receive an additional $48. Your compensation will be in the form of a Tango gift card, emailed to you.

There are {{Constants.players_per_group}} farmers playing (including you) at the same time, each with the same number of acres. The members of your group will be the same for all four rounds.
