The following examples illustrate how to calculate both Firm A's and Firm B's payoff and the worker's payoff based on different combinations of Wages and Production Levels.
In addition, the Production Costs associated with each Production Level are provided in the table below:
{{ include '_templates/global/Production_Cost_Table.html' }}Suppose the worker accepts Firm A’s job offer, which includes a Wage of 20 Lira, and chooses a Production Level of 5. Firm A’s payoff and the worker's payoff would be calculated as follows:
| Firm A Payoff | Worker Payoff | |
|---|---|---|
| = (30 × Production Level) – Wages | = Wages – Production Costs | |
| = (30 × 5) – 20 | = 20 – 8 | |
| = 130 Lira | = 12 Lira |
In this example, Firm B receives a payoff of 0 because the worker did not accept Firm B’s job offer.
Suppose the worker accepts Firm B’s job offer, which includes a Wage of 40 Lira and chooses a Production Level of 1. Firm B’s payoff and the worker's payoff would be calculated as follows:
| Firm B Payoff | Worker Payoff | |
|---|---|---|
| = (30 × Production Level) – Wages | = Wages – Production Costs | |
| = (30 × 1) – 40 | = 40 – 0 | |
| = -10 Lira | = 40 Lira |
In this example, Firm A receives a payoff of 0 because you did not accept Firm A’s job offer.
